I still remember the shout when Byron first looked different, which was when I had to fulfill my duty as a doctor; there was an emergency patient I had to handle suddenly while I and Alpha Byron were at a pack meeting party.
"I have to go, really. This time a single mother suffered heart failure. Her three young children are waiting for their mother to wake up. I beg you, let me go." I tried to break free from my husband's strong grip that was holding me back from leaving.
"If you leave, everyone will ask about you. Don't you feel that your presence is also part of your duty as Luna?" His grip tightened even more until I winced in pain.
"The main event is over; everyone can leave anytime." I remained insistent, and there I saw Alpha Byron's sharp gaze at me; he roughly threw my hand away until I stumbled and nearly fell.
I continued to carry out my duties, and upon returning home, I felt my body being thrown hard against the wall. I also heard his harsh shout, "WHY ARE YOU BACK? ISN'T YOUR WORK FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN ME AND MOONSHADOW?"
I still remember how that shout escaped; at the same time, I just found out that Hazel was in our house. From there, I realized the secret glances they often exchanged, I was no longer connected telepathically with Alpha Byron, and Hazel always suddenly appeared in our house.

Alpha Oliver and I looked at the doorway, where Alpha Oliver's hand was still on mine. Alpha Byron entered with a bag of food he was carrying in his hand. His sharp gaze was directed at the hand that Alpha Oliver quickly pulled back. I was a bit flustered; I also pulled my hand away from the table, and then Byron's expression suddenly changed.
"Is Alpha Oliver sick?" He shot a sharp glance at Alpha Oliver.
"Yes, I think I'm not feeling well. Matilda, I will go to the pharmacy area and get the medicine. Thank you for checking on me." I nodded, feeling very awkward. Alpha Oliver left; now Alpha Byron is sitting in front of me.
"I intentionally passed by here to bring food. But it turns out you have a guest. By the way, since when does Oliver only call you by your name?" Ah, damn. It seems like Alpha Oliver did it on purpose; he wants Alpha Byron to be suspicious of something.
"Since when does he have to call me with a title, while you call Hazel by her name only?"
"Don't compare me to Hazel. I have known Hazel much longer than he has known you. For me, Hazel is not just your friend." I laughed bitterly in my heart; I knew for him Hazel was not just my friend but also his lover.
"Do you have deeper feelings for her?" I asked, which immediately made him angry.
"What do you mean? You suspect your husband with your own friend?"
"I didn't say that." I stopped looking at Alpha Byron when his angry gaze appeared, but as I bowed my head, I suddenly felt Alpha Byron's hand choking me. In an instant, my body was pinned against the wall; my chair fell with a loud noise. At the same time, I held my stomach, which was hurting again.
"Don't cover something with accusations; I know you're the one who's cheating." My eyes widened; how could he accuse me of cheating just because of holding hands? Then what did I catch yesterday?
"Oliver held your hand earlier. His gaze seemed to hold love for you." Alpha Byron was filled with rage, while I was just trying to shake my head in his grip.
"Don't accuse me, then what did I see yesterday? Hazel and you were naked in the bed I usually sleep in? When I came home, Hazel was also in your lap, and she was playfully playing with your hair, then..."
"No, I didn't do that," he denied.
"I have to tell you that Alpha Oliver also knows about this, and he has a lot of evidence of your relationship." His grip tightened; he really didn't think he would hurt his wife and child.
"What evidence? Damn, I really have to teach Oliver a lesson."
"That's enough, I'm tired of all this. I want to stop being Luna for you. Just admit it, your child." My sentence was not even fully finished when Alpha Byron's slap landed on my cheek.
"Never! We will talk again after I meet that damn Alpha." Alpha Byron released everything that was holding me back. I collapsed weakly while my stomach was in excruciating pain. I wanted to run and stop my husband from leaving in anger because he feared a war between the two packs.
But at that moment, I couldn't hold on any longer; my vision blurred, my whole body ached, and I didn't have the strength even to scream for help.
I am just grateful because I can see Bianca's face in front of me, which means that someone saved me while I was in pain earlier.
However, Bianca ended up sobbing, "I told you not to come to the hospital. You know your pregnancy is weak? I don't know what happened in your room; I have no right to enter and protect a pregnant woman, but you were arguing too loudly with your husband that one hospital was worried about your condition."
"I'm fine," I said weakly, realizing I was on a bed, so I tried to get up, but something was different and I felt so light. I tried to move my body little by little, and then I realized one thing.
"Bianca, what happened?" Bianca was just crying beside my bed.
"BIANCA, CAN'T YOU SPEAK? WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?"
"You lost your baby, Matilda."
