"You have lost your baby, Matilda." Bianca cried softly; at that moment I began to feel such a great loss. Tears kept streaming down while I held my belly that was no longer as big as yesterday.
"Do you want to see him? He has been formed perfectly; he is so handsome." Bianca's words made me turn; she guided me to a bed where a white cloth was spread out on it.
"My handsome baby." My hand trembled, touching the face of the small baby who was no longer breathing.
"Matilda, you have to be strong." Bianca immediately helped me stand up when I felt my knees go weak.
"Should I tell his father?" Bianca asked, but I shook my head firmly. That cheating wolf is the reason her child died out of blind jealousy, even though he was the one who cheated.
"Hide everything. Bianca, can you help me?" Bianca fell silent, my gaze making her tense.
"What are your plans?"
The next morning after the funeral of the son I never got to give birth to in a healthy and perfect state, it was over. He returned to the Creator at a time when his eyes had not yet opened to recognize his mother's face. My poor child, perhaps I was too harsh and didn't rest for your sake, and our household situation was not good either.
Alpha Byron didn't look for me yesterday; it seems he thought I was angry and let me stay away—without knowing that something big had happened to me.
"Matilda, are you ready?" Bianca gave me a thick jacket, and in the drizzling rain, Bianca's car took me far from the hospital where we worked. Bianca took me far from the city, towards a village. The car stopped right in front of a simple house with a man outside.
"That man is my brother; he will take care of you while you're here," said Bianca. When we went out, Bianca's older brother greeted me awkwardly.
"His name is Darren; he is busy writing all the time, so he won't bother you. Let me show you to your room." Bianca took me inside her house, introducing me to many rooms, including Darren's room, so I wouldn't get lost.
When I arrived at a room that would be my resting place, Bianca hurried out, giving me time to rest. And when I was busy putting clothes in the wardrobe , I accidentally overheard a conversation between Bianca and her brother.
"Are you hiding a Luna in this house? Are you out of your mind? Do you want me to be killed by her husband?" Bianca's brother, Darren, made me feel uncomfortable.
"It won't be long; this is just temporary until Alpha Byron truly lets her go. Her husband has another lover; he might let Matilda go." And Bianca's words pierced my heart a little, but I'm sure she did this so I could be accepted here.
"Why here? Why involve me?"
"Because I believe you can protect her." Bianca's words sounded melancholic; I knew there was sincerity there. How can I consider Hazel my friend when Bianca is the one who always sacrifices for me?
"You want me to fight a werewolf and the pack leader? I'm just an ordinary human. What can an ordinary human do against someone with power? Even if he is no longer loved, an Alpha will still be very angry." Darren sounded frustrated.
"I believe you can protect her," and before Bianca could continue her words, I couldn't resist approaching them any longer. I was about to apologize to Darren and ask for a few days until I could leave on my own.
However, Darren left immediately when he saw me come out and approach them. It seems that Darren just found out that I am a Luna; his attitude was completely different when we met in front of the house earlier, and he still greeted me nicely.
Bianca and I stared at Darren's back as he just went to his room and slammed the door. "I'm sorry; you must have heard everything." Bianca held my hand warmly.
"I'm the one who should apologize; I know my presence will be hard to accept. I should have run alone." Bianca shook her head; as a mixed race of human and werewolf, both Bianca and Darren were born with ordinary human genes. Bianca once told me that she and her brother did not like their mother, who was a werewolf. Her mother betrayed them, and it was difficult for Bianca and Darren to forgive what the werewolves had done to their family.
"Darren is not that cruel; he is kind-hearted. Maybe it just needs time to accept your presence. Stay here for as long as you need. If Darren hurts you, just tell me." I nodded, and Bianca hugged me when she noticed the look in my eyes that still felt uncomfortable.
"I have to go back to the hospital." Bianca smiled, and I escorted her back to the city where our hospital was located.
At night, when everyone should have been fast asleep, I heard the sound of someone moaning in pain. I decided to go out and realized the moaning sound was coming from Darren's room.
Because the sound was getting louder, and as a healer by instinct, which made me very worried, I finally decided to enter Darren's room. How shocked I was when I saw Darren groaning in pain under his bed, and when I checked him, it turned out that this was not a pain from a common illness, so I had to give him supernatural treatment.
Darren gradually improved, but this kept happening every night. Darren has been suffering every day; his illness doesn't improve with just medication, so I always have to step in.
And Darren, who usually remained silent after the argument with Bianca because of my arrival here, finally spoke, "Thank you. Sorry for having initially refused to let you stay here. Feel free to stay as long as you want. I now understand why Bianca brought you here." And I just realized this: it seems that Bianca really needs my power to heal her brother. It turns out now that I know Darren can only be healed by the supernatural powers of a healer.
"I haven't been able to detect your illness. May I know what happened to you before?" I asked Darren softly.
"This is because of my mother's family." Before Darren could finish his story, someone suddenly knocked loudly on the front door. I was startled; it seemed Alpha Byron had quickly found my hiding place.
