It went better than I expected.
Like genuinely, significantly better.
For celebration purposes Brad, Lily and I had decided to go out of town, rent an Airbnb and spend two days away. Lily had gotten us tickets to a concert we had been talking about for longer than I could remember.
First stop, home.
"Hello Mom, hello Dad." I breezed past the front door and found them in the living room exactly where I expected, Mom tucked under Dad's arm on the couch, Dad turning to wave at me with the easy warmth he always had.
"I will be out for two days. Brad, Lily and I have a concert. Do not miss me too much." I was already heading to my room before they could respond. "I will have Tucker send you the review of the newly acquired company."
