*Leah* To my surprise, within Michael's arms, I slept. He stayed until dawn and then slipped out the back. No one seems to be about, so my reputation is safe. But as I travel in the car, my mind fills with the images of the horrid man who came to my door. His black teeth, his black, black eyes. While I know I could have gone to Kai for help, for reassurance, for some unfathomable reason, I wanted Michael. Not only because he requires no explanation regarding what happened, but the comfort he provides seemed so much more intimate than what my brother would have given.
