The day had finally arrived. Elena stood in the bedroom, looking stunning in her sleek gown. She had been discharged from the hospital a week ago. Richard had taken her home and had been nursing her back to health.
But right now, she had a new challenge. There were two wedding invitations with her, given to her by Victoria. She felt her heart beating fast as she thought about how to surface the subject with Richard. Her father would be angry if Richard didn't attend.
She took a deep breath and walked over to Richard. He was engrossed in his laptop. “Hey, can I talk to you for a minute?” she asked, trying to sound casual.
He looked up from his laptop, looking distracted. “What's up?”
“It's Victoria’s wedding today,” she began, she was a little bit trembling.
He raised an eyebrow and asked, “And?”
She checked her bag and handed him the invitation. “I know it's last minute, but… it would mean a lot to me if you could come.”
He ran a hand through his hair and said apologetically: “Sorry. I won't be able to make it. I have some important work to do here.” She felt her heart shattered into pieces and she slightly nodded.
“Working from home doesn't mean I'm available for all your demands, does it?” he added jokingly but his words cut deep into her. She forced a smile and said, “It's okay. No worries.”
She placed the invitation on the glass table and walked away. She felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes as she made her way to the wedding alone.
Her heart slipped as she entered the grand wedding venue. She scanned the crowd for familiar faces. The lavish decorations and sparkling chandeliers seemed to taunt her.
And then, she saw him.
Her father.
He walked towards her with an angry face which made her stomach twist. “Where’s Richard?” he demanded, looking straight into her eyeballs with a raging voice.
She hesitated because she knew she couldn't lie. “He couldn't make it,” she replied, trying to sound convincing.
She noticed his frown deepened. “You couldn't even do this one simple thing?” he spat.
“I tried, father,” she tried to explain, but he turned and walked away. She was frustrated and hurt. Just then, a servant approached her and said, “Good day. Madame wants to see you upstairs.”
She climbed the stairs and entered the room. She saw Victoria in her beautiful and elegant wedding gown. Victoria smiled and walked towards her.
“Oh, my days. Elena, you came. I can't believe this,” she said, glancing at her from head to toe. Elena forced a smile and said, “Yeah, you're right. It's your day.”
Victoria chuckled and said mockingly, “You can't keep running away from us. We are family,” she tried to hide her pain and smiled. “I'll leave you to get ready.” As she exited the room, she could hear Victoria’s laugh echoing through the hallway.
She descended to the main hall, trying to avoid eye contact with the guests. That's when she saw him. Jackie. Her ex-boyfriend. Victoria’s Fiancé.
She felt her stomach stirred and she quickly made her way to the balcony. She needed fresh air. She didn't notice Jackie followed her.
“Are you going to avoid me forever?” he asked, walking towards her. She turned to face him and she felt anger boiling inside her. “You know I've always loved you and I still do. I just needed to do what's best for both of us.” he added
“You love me?” she spat. “You cheated on me with my sister,” she said angrily. His eyes locked onto hers. “I did what was best for both of us,” he explained.
She laughed and said, “You're insane. You're just a pervert who sleeps with every woman he comes across.”
She noticed his face grew dark and he repeated. “Pervert?”
She turned to leave, but he grabbed her waist. He pulled her to his chest and whispered in her earlobe, “I f*****g missed you.”
Just as his lips neared hers, she was pulled away by someone. Her husband, Richard. His eyes were filled with anger.
“Hey! When did you get here? How did you know I was here?” She asked and he smiled. “One question at a time, wifey.”
He turned to Jackie and asked angrily. “Are you nuts? What the f**k are you doing with my wife?”
Jackie smirked and requested. “And who are you to interfere?”
He stepped closer and said to his face. “I'm her husband. You need to get that into that tiny brain of yours.” His eyes widened and he chuckled.
“Oh, the bankrupt guy. I have nothing to say to you two,” he muttered mockingly and left.
He turned to Elena and asked, “Are you okay?”
She leaned on his shoulder and nodded. said, “Thank you for saving my ass.”
As they were about to enter the wedding hall, she pulled him by the arm and said, “I thought you said you were busy.”
He smiled and replied, “I changed my mind.” She glanced at him for a while and muttered, “Who you saw back there was my ex-boyfriend and soon-to-be husband of my sister.”
She noticed his expression changed and she said, “Thank you for saving me.” He nodded slightly and muttered, “He’s a pervert. How did you put up with someone like him?”
She chuckled and said, “Well, he needs to know you're my wife now,” he looked into her eyeballs and added, “And if he should try that nonsense again, I will cut off his hands and feed them to him.”
Her eyes widened and she tried to hold her laugh but she couldn't. “Acting all alpha now, are we?” she teased. He grinned and they entered the wedding hall.
It was 9:00 Pm and the wedding had come to an end. All the while, Richard's attention was on Elena, checking her out in her stunning gown which revealed part of her upper body and long beautiful legs.
As they drove home, she turned to him and said, “Thank you for coming. You saved me from lots of mockeries from them.”
His hands enveloped hers and he whispered, “Always.” As they pulled into their driveway, She leaned over Richard and her lips brushed his.
Their lips met again as they entered the sitting room. He claimed her lips again and the kiss deepened. Their body pressed together as her hands explored his chest. Her fingers traced the shape of his muscles.
His hands roamed her back, his touch was sending shivers down her spine. Without breaking the kiss, he scooped her up and carried her to the bedroom. He laid her on the bed, his eyes burning with desire.
To think they haven't had s*x since they got married. Her heart raced as she felt his hands under her gown. Their clothes were tossed out. She felt his lips trace a path down her neck and she let out a soft moan.
His touch was passionate and she had never felt like that with any man. He could sense her arousal in the air. He dipped a finger in her and moved inside her. Her moans filled the air. “Perfect,” she whispered.
