CHAPTER FIVE

♤RINA POV♤ What exactly am I doing here with this man's hand around my waist. No one seeing the way he held me and smiled sweetly to me would believe the harsh treatment he had melted out on me in the past few days. "We are going to meet my parents now, you are going to be on your best behavior and smile as wide as you can." He said harshly, with a smiley face. Who the heck is this monster, his voice and his reactions were exact opposite like someone who had done it a million times therefore no mistake. I walked calmly and elegantly just as I had been made to practice almost a hundred times by the head maid. "Hi mom." He said smiling and hugging a sophisticated looking woman who was heavily decked in jewels. Her clothes were obviously very expensive as the tailor took time to pay attention to details. I imagined how many people and hours it would have taken to cover every inch of her gown with beads. She had two ladies waiting on her, one held a jeweled purse while the other just followed. She was also followed by a heavily built security man who looked very fierce. "How have you been? You've not been feeding well hun, see how gaunt you look." She said with her eyes darting all over him. I felt invincible where I was standing as she paid no attention to me. "Mom, meet my Fiance. Her name is Rina and I have brought her to finally say hi and discuss marriage preparations." "Oooh really." She said turning to look at me for the first time. She didn't look impressed, of course why would a plain girl like me impress someone as sophisticated as her. "Hi Mrs Andersen, it's nice to finally meet you. I have heard so many wonderful things about you." I said smiling just like I have practiced. "Ooh you sure have." She turned away from me." "Tacha's mom called at the last minute to tell me they would be attending this year's dinner and I heard their daughter will be attending. In Fact I thought you would be coming with her not with ....this" She said turning to me and not masking her displeasure. "Mom!" He said cutting his mother short, you are referring to fiancee and in my presence . I don't know about Tacha's presence and I have nothing to do with her. This is my woman, the one I want to get married to." It was nice to hear him refer to me as his woman. It warmed me up seeing someone stand up for me and defend me even though I knew for sure that he didn't mean any of it. "Who is your father?" She asked with obvious irritation in her voice. I had opened my mouth to speak when Jake's mom suddenly burst into a wide smile. "Ooh there she is. Tacha my darling." She said in the direction of a slim thick tall lady approaching. Her slender, elegant physique exuded a loud volume of confidence. She walked with the confidence of someone who knew where she was going and what she was going to do there. Her complexion was a radiant caramel and I was sure her skin would melt like butter if I reached out to touch it. As she moved closer, her perfume wafted across the room and she was obviously way out of my league. Way out of any average girl's league So she's the Tacha Mrs Andersen was referring to, then I don't blame her. I would pick this elegant looking lady over myself a milkshake times. Who wouldn't! "Hi Mum, good afternoon. " "oh my dear I love it whenever you call me mom, the sound of it makes me happy." Mrs Andersen said smiling like she wasn't the same woman who had almost spit on my face. Looks like the ability to pretend and change countenance actually runs in the blood. "Hi Jake" she said, flashing a knowing smile at him. " What are you doing here?" He asked, looking at her angrily. "Come on Jake, don't be rude to our visitor. I thought you better." Mrs Andersen said, scolding her son. This woman was really scolding her beloved son for someone else, then this Tacha must be a very dear person to her. "Hi, nice to meet you and you are?" She said flashing her white pair of teeth at me. "Nobody." Mrs Andersen interjected before I could respond. Did she really hate me that much? Like this bad. "Ooh." Tacha replied, rolling her eyes mischievously. "Have you met my husband? He will be so pleased to see you, let's go see him." Jake's mom said quickly pulling Tacha along with her. I really don't care about their family business or trouble. I just want to get this weekend done and move on with my life. "Now you would sit quietly until I call for you." Jake said, smiling and holding me around the waist. Pulling a chair out for me to sit. Perfect gentleman innit. He hurriedly went in the direction of his mother and Tacha, to go see his dad I guess. I glanced around the room and was wowed by the decorations. There were candles and flowers everywhere, and this incredible ice sculpture on the table that looked like it belonged in a museum. The tables were set with the fanciest plates and glasses I'd ever seen, and the silverware sparkled in the light. My admiration was interrupted by a very soft voice. Excuse me ma'am, would you like anything?" I turned to look. It was one of the waitresses at the event, she looked gentle and calm. "No thank you, I'm fine." I said even though I was burning with hunger, I wouldn't want to risk pissing Jake off. Who knows, seeing me eat may get him angry. #Prevention is better than cure. As I continued looking around, I saw Tacha pass holding Jake's hand and for reasons unknown to me, my stomach sank. 'Hey, remember why you are here. You have no place in this room, talkless of him.' "No emotional entanglement." I repeated to myself like a mantra, as if that would make the sharp stings in my stomach disappear. I watched them talk from afar .Tacha particularly looked like she was having so much fun and occasional touching of him even though he seemed uncomfortable. Then I saw it for a millisecond what seemed disturbingly like mockery as she looked me in the eye. So she was putting up all the whole shows to get to me. ....me? Who doesn't even come close to her.
