CHAPTER TWO

♧RINA'S POV♧ "The copy of Mr Jake's behavioural book that was handed to you, have you read and memorised every single detail?" The assistant asked. "Yes, I have." "I will be quizzing you on it then. The boss's mother is a very quizzical person and if she suspects the slightest hint of mischief she will discover the whole ploy and that would be the end of everything and of course you won't get paid too. "So let's get straight to drilling you." "How old is he?" "34." "How old are you?" "28" "What's his favourite colour, food and place?." "He loves black for himself and red for his women. He doesn't have a favorite food but he's allergic to peanuts and sea foods. He majorly enjoys spending time by the pool alone but since we started dating he has been spending more time with me in the room. I guess that's his favourite place now with me." "Perfect," the assistant said, smiling, "you have done your homework, but you have to continue reading the book and also memorize the story we have created for you. Like I said earlier, she's a very thorough and fearful person." "How is she coming along?" Jake asked, I didn't even hear him come into the room. After the horrible experience I had with him the previous day, even the thought of his name scared me. I felt like he would hear me and send me out of his house and I would be back on the streets with nothing. "She's doing very well sir. You can come see for yourself sir." "How did we supposedly meet?" "It was raining when my car broke down and everyone kept honking their horn for me to move but you got down in the rain and helped me there and then I knew you... "Shut the hell up. Who's the moron that gave the wack stupid story. Are my parents idiots." "I am sorry if the story is not to your liking sir, what would you like to change, I felt the rain will provide a romantic atmosphere sir." "You are such an i***t, is it not a known fact that I do not step out in the rain no matter what is at stake, well you wrote a story of me getting down in the rain to help a woman." He said angrily, stomping out of the room. "Hey, give me back the book." "The assistant said to me trying to pass the aggression on me. It's not my fault he didn't do his job well. And now you've known in case you are asked, the boss has a phobia for rain. He said before also stomping out. He was much nicer when he had approached me with the offer to work for a few days. I was on the highway walking aimlessly with no destination or plans in mind. That had been my routine for weeks, walking around and looking for edible scraps around the city. I didn't have access to any of my money as my mom made sure to block all my cards before sending me out of the house so I would know the value of her; giving me a shelter over my head as she had called it. I tried crossing the road when a car almost hit me and I blacked out. I woke up and found myself in a hospital with a handsome gentleman in a suit sitting by my side. "Oh thank God you're awake. My name is Richard. You blacked out in front of my car and thank God I was able to stop the car on time. Are you ok?" "Yes I am, but I feel light headed." I mumbled out, in a string of incoherent words. "Ooh sorry about that, it must be the sedatives, let me get you to the doctor." He said before dashing out. I wasn't able to see his face clearly but he had an apparent aura of money and authority. "The doctor said he would be discharging you now, so I can drive you home." He said smiling, obviously relieved. He gently led me to his car. "Where do you stay?" "I will find my way, thank you for your help." I said turning to walk away. "Your family must be worried, let me take you and apologize personally to them." He insisted. When I saw he wouldn't stop following me, I gently followed him to his car. "So where should we go from here?" ""Nowhere." I mumbled. "What do you mean nowhere?" "I don't have a home, I don't know where I'm heading to,no one will look for me, that's why I said you should let me be." He was obviously shocked and taken aback by my response. He switched off the ignition of the car. What do you mean? "How else do you want me to say it, I am homeless!!!!" I shouted out of frustration and emotions. He stared into space in silence for a while and smiled back at me. "I can help you, if you are ready." I watched in silence and with mixed emotions as he explained the so-called nature of his help to me. Words flowed continuously into each other and I tried to string and make meaning of the words as my head banged continuously. He was a personal assistant to a billionaire heir who needed someone to pose as his wife for the weekend. If I could do it they would pay me a lot of money and with that I could start my life. There was a part of me that was really mad at his proposal and I wanted to slap him hard across the face. What does he take me for? some con artist or what 'Really your beggar wants to act like you have a choice , 'my brain countered. Maybe this deal is what you need to make something of yourself. "Apart from posing as his wife, what else will I be required to do?" Nothing at all, in fact you don't have to sleep in the same room with him." Whatever doubt I had about the job disappeared as soon as I heard the pay? Two million dollars...to act as a wife for a week!! "Half of the payment will be made once the boss accesses you and deems you perfect and the other half will be paid upon the completion of the job." With that I found myself in the billionaire house straight from the hospital and the assistant who had been nice to me since I met him suddenly became a monster with horns, shouting and barking orders as if he wasn't the same sweet man who was by my side in the hospital bed.
