Chapter 11

356 Words
As I head to my room; I think of the days events and run a check list in my head to make sure I’ve covered my bases. Doors, windows, lights, full stomachs… Laying down that night was easy and relaxing. I was out in no time. By the time morning came at first light, it was like I had just closed my eyes. But I did feel rested. I was about to run to check on Emma. But I found her already in my arms sleeping. So I decided to slip out and go in search of a coffee pot. I brought a cooler with me and some groceries after I left our last location before the mall incident. Oh add ice to my list. Does the fridge make ice. I shrug my shoulders in the quiet and tell myself we’ll quickly find out huh. Lo and behold I found a coffee pot. And the fridge does make ice. Talk about winning the lottery! But all too soon there is a knock on the front door. That causes me to jump nearly spilling all my golden morning nectar.. I’m 30ft from the door when my wolf sits up wagging her tail. But I’m having a heart attack!! ‘Can we trust him?’ I ask her ‘ only one way to find out huh’ I quickly open the door to find the most gorgeous eyes I’ve seen. Why didn’t I notice them the last few times? “Hello mate, I hope you are well and rested” john asks. “ hello. And yes. Have you been watching all night long?” “Yes. And I haven’t noticed anyone else near here since you arrived” I just watch him. “May I come in” “Yes, but if at any time I feel you need to leave. You leave. Or I’m putting a bullet in your knee” John just smirks at me. “You have my word that I will not make you feel the need to do that” With that out of the way, I shake his hand after I’ve opened the door.
