Liz's POV
"Oh sorry, I didn't see you there." I apologize to the guy in front of me. "I was distracted texting my sister." I explain.
"It's okay beautiful, no need to worry." Ugh great, he's one of those guys.
I take a better look at him. Well he is really handsome and easy on the eyes. He has curly light brown hair two remarkable dimples and you can just tell he works out as his torso is as hard as a wall.
"Where are you headed with such speed?" He asks with a smirk bringing me back from checking him out.
"Office, I need to get my schedule." I say blushing as I realize I'm a hypocrite for complaining about his ways while checking him out.
"Schedule? You're new here?" He asks more curious now. "My name is Ashton by the way. Come I'll show you where the office is and once you get your schedule I can show you a bit around before the bell rings." Hey, nice fix there buddy.
"Thank you." I say, grateful that I won't have to find my way around on my own. "Lizbeth, in case you're wondering what my name is." I say whilst nodding for him to lead the way. "Everyone calls me Liz though."
We walk into the office and the secretary hands me my schedule, my books and gives me my locker number. Before I can even dwell on how I'm going to carry all these books Ashton steps in and grabs them for me.
"Here I got them." He states as he picks them up. "Morning Brenda, looking lovely today." He acknowledges and Brenda just smiles at him.
I take the schedule and look at the subjects. Sweet I was able to get all my AP classes.
"Let me see your schedule and locker number to know where to head first." Ashton says looking over my shoulder. I show him the paper with the schedule and just tell him it's locker number twenty eight.
"Cool we have some classes together and your locker is right next to mine. Let's go." He nods his head to the door signaling to leave. "Lucky for you, you will only have to remember three buildings for your classes and your locker is in the building in the middle." He says pushing a door open with his body.
He walks until we are standing in front of a locker.
"This, señorita, is your locker." He leans next to the locker with the 28 at the top.
"Thank you, caballero." I say getting out my lock code and opening my locker. He helps me put the books for the four classes after lunch inside.
"With pleasure, now for your classes." He turns around and looks at the doors as he takes the paper with my clases from me. "Mr. Jacobs for AP literature right there." He signals a door to my right. "Ms. Anderson world history is located at the end of the hall." He points and signals to leave the building.
"That was the building 'c' and for your third class you have Physical Education, it's that building over there. Word of advise take a head start to settle in today, Coach Torres doesn't like people being late." I simply nod to let him know I understood. "Alright you also have Physics that is in the science building, over here." We walk in and he signals my Chemistry lab and the Physics room. "Wow, just realized you're a nerd." He says with a playful smile on his face.
"So?" I remark and try to look away to stop him from seeing my blushed face due to being called out on. "Plus you said you had the same clases." I acuse back.
"But only the easy ones." He bites back with a smirk, leading me out the door. "That over there is the library, in case you ever need a book." He points to a large building. "Cafeteria" He directs my sight to another building with some benches out in front of it. "And just in time for you to get to your first class, this is where you have Ms.Lawrence for home room and Mr. Turner for nerd math."
"Funny, real funny, Ashton." I say sarcastically. "But in all honesty, thank you for the crash course on getting around the school." I say sincerely as the bell rings. "See you around."
"Mi lady." He bows and pretends to tip an invisible hat. He turns and leaves.
My home room teacher, Ms. Lawrence is actually really nice. And you can tell she is one of those teachers everyone loves and therefore respects. As soon as she came in the class everyone sat down and took out there notebooks and pencils.
All truth be told I like her even more because she didn't make be introduce myself to the class.
(...)
I was walking to the cafeteria after P.E and I saw that the volleyball tryouts were being held tomorrow after school. Nice.
I pulled out my phone and texted Beth.
-Guess whose volleyball tryouts are tomorrow after school?
-Lucky. So far that is the only good thing about this school and I have to wait till Friday.
-I know, life has its favorites.
-Nobody likes a show off Liz.
- Any who, how is your day going?
-Horrible I got lost trying to find my first class and I haven't been able to talk to anyone. I feel so out of place.
-Beth, you don't have to lie for my sake, I actually think I made a friend.
-Awesome, I didn't want to gloat on my success. This school is pretty cool and I met a really nice girl that so far has all my classes and let me tag along with her and her friends.
-See? I told you there was nothing to worry about. It's almost my turn in the lunch line see you later.
I was putting my phone away and took a step forward when I bumped into someone's hard back.
I looked up just as the guy turned around and I was met with a scowling Ashton.
"Watch where you're walking." He said quite bothered about the situation. What the? He was nicer this morning.
"I'm sorry, but the line was moving I didn't think you would just stand there like a brick wall." I replied just as bothered for his change of personality. I mean just in second period he was all friendly and trying to get my attention. What changed?
He just looked at me with a lifted eyebrow. And once he decided the conversation wasn't worth it he turned and moved in line.
Lunch went by too slow for my liking. Maybe it was not having anyone to talk to, but I sure was glad when the bell for next period rang.
Next class was Chemistry. I walked in and sat in an empty desk. Right after me walked in Ashton.
The teacher started the role call and then it clicked.
"González, Isaac."
"Here". I must look real dumb right now.
So that's why he was acting different in the cafeteria. It wasn't Ashton. I didn't even realize that Ashton had a dark blue shirt under his jock jacket this morning and Isaac has a green shirt under his sports jacket.
Oh no. He must think I have issues for talking to him like that. How did I miss the different color shirts? So empty headed of me to just assume he was all of a sudden being mean to me.
I am punishing myself and banging my head on the desk when a warm hand stops me from hitting the cold wooden surface. I raise my head and look to my left. Oh great.
"Sorry about earlier I may have overreacted. I hope I didn't scare you." He says with a genuine smile. "But please stop mumbling and banging your head, people are staring."
"I'm sorry too, I was the one who bumped into you for walking and texting." I say realizing his hand is still on my forehead and deciding to straighten myself. "I thought you were Ashton and were bipolar or something for treating me so coldly after helping me in the morning.
And he just laughed not caring that people stared. The jerk.
