What would Liz do?

Liz's POV Beth came into her room really early in the morning. Last night's plan went by accordingly. Mom and dad examined my foot and after taking me to the nearby clinic just to be on the safe side, they agreed it was not broken which was great. "Okay, mom and dad are deciding on whether or not they should send you to school today. How's the ankle?" She says filling me in on the details and nodding at my bandaged foot. "It's fine, it doesn't hurt as bad." I say sitting up and rubbing my ankle. "You sure this will work?" I ask, doubt written all over my face. "I could always wait to apply next year once we are settled in and hopefully going to the same school." I try to reason. "No, volleyball is the only good thing here. You know the district is hard on the athletic awards and scouts start looking at kids since junior year." She says with determination in her face. "Plus we can still pull it off because it's our second day of school, teachers still haven't figured us out." "Well yeah but what about the getting around from class to class." I say regretting this plan. "Come on Liz, don't be such a downer. You showed me buildings on the school website." True. "Anything or anyone else I need to remember?" "Not really." She gives me look as if saying "see? Nothing to worry about." "Okay fine but please behave try not to call attention to yourself. I don't want people talking to me because of you talking to them today." "I'll be on my best Liz behavior." She concludes with a raised palm and a cheeky smile. "Girls, you better be ready." Mom says opening the door to Beth's room. "Beth honey, your dad and I decided it was best for you to stay in today. Rest your foot for the day and hopefully you'll be all better tomorrow for school." She spoke as she neared the bed and patted my leg. "Okay. I should probably go downstairs to have more access to everything." I state. Dad carried me bridal style all the way to the couch in the living room while mom and Beth had breakfast. He also brought me a breakfast tray. "Alright sweetie, we'll try to be home earlier since we don't have a lot of clients today." Mom said stepping out of the kitchen giving me a kiss on the forehead as she walks to the door to grab her coat. Dad follows suite and pats my head. They head out the door and I watch as Beth almost takes her own backpack instead of mine, I clear my throat to make her look a what she is about to do. She just turns to look at me sheepishly and mouths a "that was close." "See you after school." She yells. "Don't befriend the little girl in the corner." She smiles mischievously at me before heading out and closing the door. Beth's POV As I walked to the building that Liz said her locker was in I pulled out her schedule to look at her first three classes and try to remember where she said they were. I find her locker, number twenty eight. I start to open it when a guy stands in front of the locker beside me. "Morning beautiful." You can hear the smile on his face. I didn't bother turning to face him as I assumed he was on the phone. "Oh, so no "good morning baby."?" He asked, now turning to me. "I thought we had a moment yesterday." He says faking pain with a hand over his chest. Amusing. "Oh I'm sorry, I thought you were on your phone or something." I explain. "Yeah, no worries." Now he is dramatically sobbing. Wow. This guy. "It's alright just join the "step on Ashton's feelings" club." Sniff. "Dude don't be so dramatic. I said I thought you were on the phone." I deadpan. "And I thought it was clear from yesterday that your nick name from me was beautiful, Liz. I guess you are so used to it that it doesn't matter that your best bud in the world does it." He's now trying to look mad with his hand on his waist. He is just too funny. I wonder why Liz didn't mention him. Oh well. Oh no, what would Liz do in this situation? She would be overwhelmed at his reaction, sometimes I think that girl has an issue and doesn't understand sarcasm or drama for the sole purpose of entertaining. Okay, first she would apologize and try to make it up to him. I already said sorry and explained what happened. "Sorry Ashton, didn't know you were so needy." He gasps exaggeratedly. Uh-oh Liz would not have said that. I'll go with pity then. "In all honesty it's only my second day here and I'm not good with the friends making thing. I really didn't think you were talking to me." He smiled and his whole demeanor softened and lost all sense of playfulness. "Oh man, I screwed that one up." He scratches the side of his forehead. Haha gotcha. "No worries. I'll let this one slide." I say trying to give him an innocent smile like the ones Liz always gives around. "Which reminds me. I told my brother and some friends about the beautiful girl I helped out yesterday and they want to meet you." He turns to me again after pulling out some books from his locker and putting some others inside. "I can wait for you by the gym and we can walk to the cafeteria together. Today's Taco Tuesday, the actual tacos not the salad in a hard tortilla things." He smiles at me and moves his eyebrows up and down as if hinting something. I decided not to ask how he new my third period was P.E. "Awesome. See you after third period." Liz's POV I never thought staying home alone would be so productive. And by productive I mean the only times I forced myself out the couch were to the bathroom and to get snacks and water. Honestly the best day ever, I almost finished season 3 of The Rookie. Who else sees the sparks between Lucy and Tim? When they become the best couple on the show, I so called it, just FYI. I think I should stay home and do nothing more often. It's relaxing and totally suits me. At around lunch time I decided to check in on Beth and make sure she hadn't added me on the list for a secret society or something. -How is school going? Get around okay? -Your school is awesome today for lunch they are serving actual tacos. -Oh yummy, I want some. -Oh and the guys here? Even better and they come in 2 packs. Why didn't you tell me about Ashton and Isaac? -Oops, guess it slipped my mind. Behave though don't be too friendly I still don't know if they are friend material. No quiero que hagas algo que los haga actuar raro. -No worries, before doing or saying anything I think about what you would say or do. -Don't mock me either just behave and good luck on the tryouts. Beth's POV When I was getting ready to leave the gym I saw Ashton waiting for me outside just as he promised. "Hey beautiful." he greeted as soon as he was at ears distance. "Ready to meet the gang." He asked taking my backpack from me. "The gang? Like an actual gang?" I ask dumbfounded. He just laughs at me. "I knew you were a princess, but the gang is how we call our group of friends. Chill." Jerk is still laughing. We head to the cafeteria and line up for our tacos. "So how's your day been so far?" says Ashton while topping of his tacos with cilantro, lime and some sauce. "Pretty good actually, excited to get to the end and start the volleyball tryouts" I reply a little over enthusiastically. "Ah didn't know you were into sports. One of my friends is in the team." He shares while leading me to a table full of people. "Guys this is beautiful, I mean Liz." Everyone on the table turns to us and I swear I've never felt more judged and tiny at once.
