I managed to make it to the Valley of Death in just over two hours from when I left. Thankfully there are no stop lights or speed limits to make sure people don’t get hurt. I was just starting to feel like myself again when I got the feeling that I was about to drive into a trap. I stopped the car outside of the Valley and decided to walk the rest of the way in. I had actually come here the second summer with my parents and managed to find several small pieces of jewelry in a tiny outcrop that looked like it was new instead of rather old. When I tried to ask our guide where the items had come from, I was told that they were left for me the night before from some of the people who lived not that far from the Valley. I had found it odd at that age that people would leave such things for a small chile, but now as I have gotten older, I have figured out why they left them for me.
“Immend, I know you are here, so just show yourself and give me my friend back safely to me so I can just leave.” I yelled into the Valley with my voice coming back to me.
“Where would all the fun be if I didn’t make you play to get him back. Or have you forgotten how to play Knuckles and Spools?” he chuckled with an evil gleam in his eyes.
“I remember you always cheated when I played against you. I will not play you at that game anymore. I didn’t come to play; I came to get my friend back and leave.” I said with hate in my eyes.
“You have come here to dishonor the Gods by not playing their games to get your friend? Or should I call him your lover in this life Isis?” he questioned me while spitting my name out of his mouth like it had burned him to say it.
“My name has not been Isis in four lifetimes you idiotic man. My name is Rebecca now. You will treat me as an equal and not something to keep underfoot like you had in that life. If I had managed to take you with me at the time you had killed me then none of this would have happened! If my name burns you that much then maybe you should keep it out of your mouth. Just give me my friend. And he isn’t my lover in this lifetime, but if he was what makes you think I would discuss that with you?” I asked while I c****d my hip out with my hands on them.
“How would a woman ever be an equal to me?! I am the closest thing to a God that you will ever know. If I had the thought to actually bed you when we married then you would have died a woman instead of the girl that I had taken as a true wife. Though I did spend the night with all of the other women that I loved more than you that had to die in that fire that I set to get out of the arrangement with your parents. Though the Pharaoh did have me locked away for the next seventeen years till I was able to make a deal with one of the Gods to make each and every one of your future lives a living hell.” his eyes lit up with the last part of that sentence like he was remembering it like it was yesterday.
“I am not going to stand here and argue with you on this matter. You never were and never will be a God. You are nothing more than gum stuck to the bottom of my shoe and I wish to be rid of you once and for all. So, for the last time please give me back my friend so we can be done with this little walk down memory lane.” I said while getting madder at him with each passing second.
“You will have to find him in this Valley to get to keep him, you were never one for this style of game, but I thought how fitting it would be since you are back in your first birthplace. Or do you not remember that you were actually from these people and your parents moved to Memphis to try and give you a better life there. If you hadn’t caught my eye at the young age you were then maybe you would have actually found someone that loved you and didn’t use you like I had.” he said with a sadistic smile on his face.
“That would explain all of the gifts I received when my parents and I had come here. They were trying to welcome back their lost family member!” I said with a small gasp and a giggle. I was playing with the necklace that held one of the Jasper rings on it that I had gotten on that day so long ago. I broke the little chain and decided to put the ring on and all of a sudden there was a glow all around me. I looked down in shock and my clothes that I had driven there in had managed to somehow change into a mixture of all of the clothes I had worn in my many lives.
I had on the sandals from Egypt, a fine silk dress of the darkest red from Greece, rose designed bracers on my arms that looked like my garden in France and the black top jacket from Boston during the Witch trials. I looked at the stunned face of Immend while he was cussing up a storm at the Goddess Immend for gifting me with magic of my own. I could also feel the katana that I had placed down my spine when I had left the car to walk here.
“You are just as cocky now as you were back then Rebecca. Shall we begin this game to get your friend? Or do I get to keep him for a new play thing?!” he questioned.
“If I must play this game with you then let's get this over with Immend. I do happen to have a family that loves me, unlike you if I remember correctly that NEVER had anyone to love you.” I said hoping to throw him off his sick little game so that I could get the upper hand and get my friend back in one piece.
“That is going to cost you, you little b***h!” he yelled while running at me. I hadn’t noticed before, but he had a broadsword in his hand and had raised it to the level of my heart while he was running. I managed to twist out of his way just a few seconds before he was in front of me.
I giggled while dancing out of his way happy to remember all of the fighting practice I had received all of those years I had been alive. I figured I would save the katana to use at the last second when he was too tired to lift that sword that I knew took and lot of power to keep elevated and swing it. I remembered that he had never took the time in Egypt to use a sword and that his arms would soon give out. I would take that moment to take his head off.
“Hold still you little b***h and take the swift death I am trying to give you! I made a deal that I would keep killing you for every year that you had me locked up, and I’ve only gotten three of those lifetimes back. So, take this sword like the good little b***h that you are and just die! I know the Goddess Isis will just give you a new life, and I will just keep taking it from you!” he yelled while trying to run his sword through my ribs again, but I dodged by ducking under the blade.
“You never were an even headed person Immend. I thought that after all of this time you might have managed to cool off a little but I guess that wasn’t so. I just hope you can find some rest.” as I said the last part of my sentence, I took the katana out and swung in a fast pace and took Immend’s head clean off his shoulders. The last expression that he made was one of shock before the Valley sounded with the cried of Anubis’ hounds. They had come to drag him to the Underworld so that he could finally be weighted.
You have done well our daughter. You may rest for the remainder of this life and no longer have to fight this evil. I know you are here for your friend and you will find him at the end of the Valley in a small little cave on the right side. I hope you can still honor us by remembering the old ways every now and then. I will leave you now and hope to not see you for a very long time.
With that he walked over, gave me a small kiss on my head and walked back to his hounds to go back to the Underworld. I took off at a fast clip to make it to the end of the Valley to find Thomas exactly where Anubis said he would be. I was still running so fast that I actually ended up tripping over Thomas since he was curled up on the floor as if he was asleep.
