Chapter 1Egil Olsen gripped the edge of the counter in the bookstore and forced down a breath. Reverend Goodwin was studying him with stone-cold eyes. “I heard from my contacts that he will be back this week.” Swallowing hard not to throw up over the counter, Egil hoped with every fraction of his being it wasn’t true. “I haven’t heard anything, sir.” The disapproving twitch of Reverend Goodwin’s lips always made Egil want to hide. He’d long ago stopped caring about everyone knowing he slept with a man—male, dragon, monster. Their leers and innuendos couldn’t touch him, and he’d always been gay, so it wasn’t new. It was worse, but not new. If he’d had a choice, he’d end up with a man. Not a dragon—a human man. A kind-hearted, caring man who loved him. So the male part wasn’t the problem
