The Matriarch's Interrogation
Matriarch Ashworth slumped weakly into her grand chair, her wrinkled face completely devoid of color. The phone receiver she had just replaced rang softly, a symbol of defeat that still lingered in the air of her luxurious office.
"They... they call me the 'Matriarch of Chaos,'" she whispered, her eyes staring blankly at Cassian. "The Northern Clan knows everything about Stark. They know everything I did to cover it up since Rylan's death."
Cassian stood in the doorway, making no move to approach. Agent D had pulled Lianna away minutes ago, taking her to the Valerian bunker under the guise of post-Stark emergency system reinforcement. The resulting silence was shared only by Cassian and the family Matriarch he had conquered both financially and politically.
