But the cost was too high. When we finally reached the secret clinic, the doctors explained that Agent D's injuries were serious. He would need a long time to recover. I stood outside the operating room, emptiness enveloping me. I had just lost my primary field lieutenant. I held fast to my promise to Lianna, prioritizing Valerian’s security, and now, I had to face Thorne alone on the executive level. Agent D was wheeled out of the operating room a week later, his face deathly pale. I approached him, feeling the need to look after him, to protect him from everything bad. "You all right, buddy?"
