The silence stretches between us after Kaizer's last words.
For once, neither of us feels the need to fill it.
My gaze drifts to the city beyond the glass walls of my office. Afternoon sunlight reflects off theneighboringg skyscrapers, turning them into mirrors of gold and silver.
Down below, tiny figures weave through the busy streets, completely oblivious to the world hidden beneath theirs.
"Humans".. they go about their lives believing monsters exist only in books and films.
If only they knew.
A knock sounds at the office door.
"Come in."
One of my assistants steps inside with a folder tucked beneath her arm.
"Alpha..." She quickly corrects herself.
"Mr. Blackwood. These require your signature."
I nod.
She places the documents neatly on my desk before excusing hers
