Chapter Three: Budding emotions

1300 Words
Anaya's POV “Levi, grandpa is planning on outdoing himself this time around, let's go pay him a visit before going back to the office shall we?” I said plainly as I sat in the car. “Yes ma.” He replied. I became alert because that wasn't Levi's voice. Trying to peer through the mirror to see his face, he wore a mask. “Isn’t your wife and daughter back from Yorkshire?” “Yes, they'll be back pretty soon.” He responded, monotonously and ignited the car's engine. My heart skipped a beat. Levi had no wife or daughter, I was in a car with an imposter! “Wait, I just remembered that I forgot something important.” I lied and immediately got out of the car. On stepping out, I realized for the first time that day that those men weren't my bodyguards, I was too distracted talking to my grandfather that I didn't notice this little yet significant difference. I left home with five bodyguards and I sure as hell remember their faces, and these men are not them. “I need to get something around the corner, wait for me here.” I ordered them. “Ma'am, we have to come with you.” One of them insisted. “Follow me and lose your job.” I threatened then began to walk away from them. I didn't turn back for fear of being caught so I just walked down the block, as soon as I got away from them, I fidgeted with my phone and tried to dial a number. “Going somewhere?” I yelled in fright and my phone dropped from my hand. Before I could react, I was bundled like a little revolting child and hurled down the block. “Be quiet princess, no one is coming to help you.” “Help! Someone help me!” I yelled. No one was near and I was being abducted by these thugs that posed as my bodyguards. I “What do you want? Money?, I'll give it to you.” I bargained but was ignored. I kept screaming until he showed up like a knight in shining armor; Evans. When he showed up, his shirt was wet, hugging his body and outlining his firm masculine chest. I could see his well chised abs and I gulped in hungrily. I imagined myself running my fingers through his bare chest, massaging and fondling those strong abs of his while he- “Run!” I had advised him, seeing the men were far more hefty looking than he was. I could save myself with my money but he was just a regular gynecologist. Surprisingly; he had a pretty intimidating conversation with them and ended up bashing them up half the time it takes to boil tea. I was impressed and he was giving his hero speech when one of the thugs suddenly found the strength to hit him from behind, making him bleed and stagger. “Evans!” I cried out, horrified. He fell to the ground with a thud and the thug laughed menacingly, as he approached me, Evans suddenly rose to his feet and delivered one last blow to the thug, sending him into comatose instantly. Evans produced an handkerchief from his pocket and wiped off the trickling blood from his head like it was nothing then he turned to face the thug that was still conscious. Fear was etched on his face and he couldn't rise to his feet. Almost immediately, the blaring siren of that ambulance reached us and he stretched hand towards me. “Are you hurt ma'am? Is everything okay?” He asked, politely as if nothing had happened. “I'm-i’m fine.” I stuttered, staring at him as he rolled down the sleeve of his cloth, covering his tattoos. “Are you fine?” I asked and he nodded in response. “It's nothing. I'll go talk to the Police, just relax. I'll get you a bottle of water as well.” He offered. I nodded her head and gave him a hug. He was startled by this act of mine but I was quick to break it off. “Thank you.” I whispered, correcting my impulsiveness. I watched as he spoke with the Police, showing them his identity card The police came along and as usual; asked few questions and were shocked to see me; the famous Macalister heiress. I spoke with them for few minutes, they didn't bother us anymore but rounded up the goons and my car was returned to me. About half a dozen of bodyguards came running to me, wanting to protect me but I held them off for a while, speaking to Evans. “Thank you for saving my life.” I profusely thanked him. “I was just doing what every other gentleman would.” I replied. “I see you're in safe hands now, I better get going, stay safe.” “I would to thank you for this, do you mind?” I asked, stopping him from leaving. “Please don't, you don't need to.” He argued. “I want to, how about you come with me at my company? You can choose any department you want and be the manager.” I offered since it would be a slap to let his goodwill go to waste. He shook his head. “We have different companies across the company, I could make you the CEO of any of them, how about that?” I bargained. “Honestly, it's fine.” He insisted. “No, we can discuss your salary and you can get a raise if you want. You could be the Chief of my hospital, it's one of the best in the world.” He chuckled softly. “I appreciate the goodwill ma'am but I love my job being a gynecologist, I wouldn't want anything more but thank you.” He politely declined my offer and began to walk away. “A hundred million dollars!” I yelled after him, once again gaining his attention. “I'll write you a check of a hundred million, take it as a gift for saving me.” I said convincingly. He looked convinced and walked over to me, tilted his head sideways and gave me a really beautiful smile. “What I'd appreciate ma'am is that this heavenly smile on your face never fades away, my job is a lifestyle, my purpose and I'd love if you respect that. I'm sorry once more for walking up to you without reserves, have a nice day. And remember, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” He said decisively and walked away without looking back. As I watched him leave, I felt a swell in my heart, I was intrigued, impressed and awed. “Who the hell is that man? I asked rhetorically. “Do you want me to look into him?” Carla, my personal assistant asked. I subconsciously nodded my head and smiled. Two of my bodyguards got in along with Carla who sat in the backseat with me. I couldn't take my mind off the mysterious Evans Ludwig, he was the first man who has risked his own life to protect me and doesn't want anything in return. “Under no circumstances should grandpa know about this.” I said and they all got the message. I looked outside the car's window while Carla did her magic. I wanted every information on Evans and she pulled it up in ten minutes. I went through it and my lips curled into a smirk remembering grandpa's words about us being compatible. “Let's pay my savior a visit, shall we?” I said, a plan forming in my head.
