CHAPTER 2 “Star Wars are by far the best movies ever made.” Marty insisted as he made his way to the bridge with his best friend Bryton. Trek heard Bryton snort as the man shook his head, “Nope. Star Trek. It was both a television show and had blockbuster movies. Star Wars cannot hold that claim to fame.” “You can’t be serious. The Star Trek franchise is only worth about ten billion and the Star Wars franchise is at twenty-five billion. That proves that Star Wars is far better.” Marty argued. “That is such bullshit. If it weren’t for special effects Star Wars wouldn’t even be a blip on the movie screen. When Star Trek started out they had nothing but cameras and humans fighting against aliens. Yet, they won every time. Take away the special effects and Star Wars is nothing… no story, no anything. Star Trek is all about humanity… good verses evil. They proved that even without special effects they could make it big, and now that J.J. Abrams is directing some of the Star Trek movies they are actually surpassing Star Wars.” Bryton said with a sharp nod, then turned to Trek, “Don’t you think so?” “Uh… well… uh….” “Don’t get him involved, he’s only seen one of each movie, Bry. He can’t possibly know which is better.” Marty argued. “Oh poppycock. Trek, out of the two you saw which was better? Star Trek? Right? I mean it even has your name in it. It has to be your favorite.” Bryton said with a bright smile. “Just because his name is Trek and the show is called Star Trek doesn’t mean it’s his favorite, so stop pressuring the man so he can tell the truth.” Bryton said with a harrumph. Marty crossed his arms, raising his brow, “And what truth is that? The fact that you’re the mate to the guy that runs this ship and could have him shot out of the ship or something? If anyone is pressuring Trek, it’s you.” Rolling his eyes, Bryton turned to Trek with a wide calculating smile, “Tell him, Trek. Tell him which movie you thought was best.” Knowing how Bryton could get when in a fit of temper and not wanting Marty to come up with some laser gadget with Shen that would blow his balls off, or have either of their mates kill him for upsetting their men, Trek answered, “I liked both just fine.” Bryton pursed his lips, “That’s a copout if I ever heard one. Isn’t it Marty?” “Yep. I think Trek is holding out on us.” Marty said with a raised brow. Shaking his head, “No really. I actually did like them both. If you think about it they both have a lot in common, actually.” “What are you talking about? Star Wars and Star Trek are nothing alike.” Bryton snapped. Swallowing hard from the evil glint he could see in Bryton’s eyes, Trek quickly said, “But they do. Both stories depict societies with a bunch of plants and different species, they have political messages and some philosophical ones as well, and they both take things from the Greek and Roman mythology stuff. Now Star Trek is over fifty years old with your time era and Star Wars is much younger than that, but then again it did surpass Star Trek in royalties in just one movie. However, there have been multiple spin-offs from Star Trek and none really from Star Wars, so I say they both are about even.” “Yeah, well… we fans have names. I’m a Trekkie. What can Star Wars fans call themselves…? Warsies?” Bryton replied, snorting at his own joke. “You are such a goof. Come on, lets go ask Barron what he thinks.” Marty said, walking towards the bridge once more, asking, “Hey, how are your parents getting on since coming aboard the ship? Shrugging, Bryton said, “I haven’t seen them since the guys brought them on board and Val said that they refused to leave the bridge until they saw me, and well…” “You got too scared because you didn’t tell them about Val. I told you it was going to bite you in the ass if you didn’t come clean with your parents.” Marty said with a snicker. Bryton scoffed, “Oh yeah, and how was I supposed to do that? ‘Hey, Mom. Hey, Dad. I’d like you to meet my new husband, Valkin from the planet Apparati. I’m so sorry you weren’t invited to the wedding, but it’s kind of a private thing that no parent should see and no child would want them to witness.’” “Okay, that’s just wrong.” Marty said with a shiver. Shrugging, Bryton replied, “Yeah, well so is my parents watching me get boinked to say the I dos and shit.” “Just stop. You know Val, Faruke and I would have helped you explain things, Bry.” Marty lightly argued. Bryton huffed, “And how exactly do I explain things to them, Marty? Hell, half this s**t I still don’t really understand. Do you?” Marty looked at Trek, “He does have a point. Some of this s**t is really hard to wrap our heads around. I’m still trying to picture Faruke with two heads and eight limbs and all I see are giant two-headed spiders with Faruke’s face on them.” Trek knew Marty was talking about the original form of all Apparati. They were the original shifters, created by the gods themselves, and known to the people of his world as the Deity. Their powers were great and beyond what anyone could imagine. They were made to keep the people of Apparati safe, but instead the Deity used those powers to rule over all that lived on the lands. Anyone that even attempted to defy the Deity was beaten, raped, demeaned, and either were killed, or tormented to the point they committed suicide. The people prayed to the gods for help, and just when they got to the point that they felt the gods were refusing to listen, the Deity decided to go after the gods themselves. Some of the bravest of the land broke away from the army the Deity were forming and the gods acted quickly. The gods attacked first, creating a giant energy ball that combined them, then the energy ball was cast that some of the powers spilled over and split everyone in half, creating one head two legs and two arms and the people were scattered around the universe. The Apparati searched for their other half for most of their lives. They were called solomentes… or otherwise known as mates. It was rare for an Apparati to find their other half since many were too afraid to search and the universe was large. And if they were lucky enough to find them, they must go through what was known as the casar, a ritual that proved to their intended their worthiness as a mate. The Apparati chose a chaperone as witness to the courtship and made sure there was no s****l activity between the two until the solomente deemed the Apparati was a worthy mate, and none of this would even be possible if not for those brave men, Axten and Johnath. Maybe one day Trek would be able to thank them personally, because if Faruke and Valkin had found their solomentes that meant that Trek’s was out there somewhere as well. The two brave men that risked their lives to warn the gods were the chosen two to hide and protect the vat from harm. Not wanting to chance the Deity regrouping, the gods created a special army of their own called the Defense Troopers. They were sworn to protect the people of not only their home, but all over the universe from any possible Deity attack or if the gods themselves chose them for a special project, like the one they were on now. Keeping Earth safe from an ex-Defense Trooper bent on finding the power vessel and taking the powers into himself so that he could rule not just Earth, but every universe and planet in space. They almost had Marston and his men, but during their battle both ships were damaged and fell to Earth. While trying to find the parts needed to fix their ship, their leader Valkin found his solomente, Bryton, and Faruke found his in Marty. Trek was happy for his friends, but he would be lying if he didn’t admit he was also a little jealous. Trek yearned for the day he would hold his solomente in his arms, feel their bodies joined as one, and know that he would never have to walk the world alone again. To be loved by that one man and know he would never leave him or stray with another. To have absolute trust and love… “Trek? Trek are you even listening to us?” Marty asked in a huff. Pushing his thoughts to the back of his mind, Trek focused on Marty, “I’m sorry. I was thinking about everything we need to do in order to defeat Marston and his men.” “Unless you were planning on f*****g their brains out, dude, you were thinking about something else, because it damn sure wasn’t that psycho-b***h brother of Val’s.” Bryton said with a smirk. Trek felt his cheeks warm and knew that with his fair skin there was no way the two men couldn’t see his discomfort. “Shouldn’t you be going in and saying hello to your parents? As Marty said, you have a lot of explaining to do.” Bryton pushed out his bottom lip, whining, “I don’t wanna. I don’t even know what to say. Hey, Mom and Dad, this is my husband Valkin and he’s here to take out his psycho twin brother that wants to take over Earth by gaining powers only a god should have. The lives of all humans on Earth are on the line and they need the help of Marty and me to save the world. Welcome aboard.” Trek softly laughed, saying, “You may want to start with a hug and just tell them how happy you are they’re alright. The explanations will come and you will have Val and Marty there to help you through it. I’m sure Marty’s dad, Sam, will be more than willing to help them as you explain what’s been going on.” “Come on, Bry. Let’s get this over with.” Marty said, pulling on his friend. Bryton looked as if he was going to argue, and knowing how dramatic Bryton could be when pushed to do something he didn’t want to do, Trek said, “You know what? I forgot something in engineering. I’ll catch up with you guys later.” “Chicken shit.” Marty muttered. Damn right he was. Refusing to laugh and piss the man off, Trek turned and rushed away. The moment he arrived at Engineering, Trek pressed his palm to the door and walked into his sanctuary, then stopped dead in his tracks. There on the floor lay a man. “Who are you and what are you doing in here?” The man didn’t respond to Trek’s question, nor did he move from where he lay. Walking closer, the scent of blood hit Trek like a punch to the face, causing him to gasp, “Solomente!”
