"You foolish thing! Will you take eternity to prepare a meal?" I heard Nikita, the head cook, say to me as she entered the kitchen.
"S..sorry ma I'm almost done.." I knew that I was in trouble after seeing her angry face. To be honest, even if I don't do anything for the whole day, still she'll find any reason to get mad at me.
"Have you been w*****g around without doing your work?" I felt a pang in my heart even though it was not something new I was hearing from her.
"I'm sorry. It won't repeat itself" I said as I hung my head down without saying any more words.
In the end, she came over to taste the food I was cooking. I stood nearby, watching anxiously. After taking a bite, she spat it out with a disgusted noise. "Pft!"
"Bi*ch! How can you prepare such blank food? Do you want to poison the Alpha's family? Didn't you learn your lesson the last time?"she roared at me, making me shiver to my core.
"Arrggggaghh" I screamed as I felt that hot soup burning my skin because she didn’t think twice before splashing the hot soup on me.
"Looks like I have to give you another lesson, You pathetic waste of air!" She roared as she caught my hair from behind and pulled it hard.
"I'm..." I attempted to speak, but before I could finish, her hand struck my face with such force that my lips split, blood trickling down. "You piece of s**t, you should have died instead of your parents. You're nothing but a burden to me," she said angrily.
I pleaded, but my cries only seemed to fuel her rage. Once she was satisfied, she left me lying there. That was my reality everyday.
She had been a thorn in my flesh ever since I had been demoted and brought in to work at the pack house as one of the pack's slave.
Years ago, I became an orphan, something I never could have imagined in my wildest dreams.
Given that my father was the pack's Beta, I never thought I'd find myself alone in this world so soon.
I was a spoiled brat who always got her way. On my eighth birthday, I pressured my parents into celebrating and buying me gifts, just like I always did. Little did I know that their attempt to fulfill my wishes would end in tragedy.
As they were returning from the mall with my birthday presents, they were involved in a fatal car accident. The whispers began immediately after their deaths. People blamed me for their demise, believing that my selfish demands had led to their tragic fate.
In the eyes of the pack, I became the cause of my parents' death, the spoiled child whose greed had cost them their lives. As a result, I was despised and hated, eventually being demoted to the lowest rank in the pack - an Omega.
Since then, love and affection have become distant memories, overshadowed by the guilt and loneliness of my past.
I cry out to the Moon goddess to kill me. I have no purpose, no reason to keep going in this cruel world.
I dream of running away, far from my pack. But where would I go? Who would ever accept a lowly Omega like me? No one...
Despite the seething hatred and preferential treatment I always received, the only one who consistently stood by me and defended me whenever people bullied me was Davies, my childhood friend and soon-to-be Alpha.
He was better than all of them combined. Unlike everyone else, Davies is a sweet soul.
Even better than the Alpha and Luna, who either turned a blind eye to how I was being treated or chose not to get involved.
However, his loyalty to me only fueled the hatred directed towards me even more.
I wiped away the tears forming in my eyes, unsure why I kept crying. I should have gotten used to this treatment by now, I muttered, trying to console myself.
With tears running through my cheeks, I closed my eyes.
The next day
As usual, I rose early despite a pounding headache. I quickly made breakfast, trying to avoid any mistakes to avoid Nikita's wrath.
Eventually, I set off for school. School? More like a personal hell. Each day started with bullying at home, followed by more bullying at school. It seemed like an endless cycle of torment and humiliation.
***********
As I stepped into the classroom, I could hear some of my classmates jeering at me from the front. They didn't bother hiding their contempt because they knew they could intimidate me whenever they pleased.
"Hey b***h, are you coming tonight to serve drinks at the Alpha's birthday party?" Dexter sneered, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Dexter has always made my life a living hell. He despises me so much that he seizes every opportunity to frustrate me.
I didn't bother responding to him and simply walked away, knowing that tonight I had to serve as usual at Alpha Hobbs' birthday party. Despite being a jerk, Dexter is the Beta's son, and I can't change that fact.
"You b***h! You dared to ignore!" Before i knew it, I felt a force from behind and stumbled to the ground. A sharp slap stung my cheek, and laughter erupted around me. It was just another day of humiliation and abuse.
To them, I was nothing but a worthless slave, unworthy of even a shred of respect.
My heart tightened with pain, yet I remained silent, I was in no place to talk back at them. With a heavy sob, I headed home, aware that I needed to prepare for tonight.
I stood still for a moment, taking a deep breath, knowing that another round of torture awaited me tonight. I dressed in a simple waiter's attire, preparing to head to the pack hall. "Everything will be fine now, Alexia." I muttered as I stepped out to the unknown.
