Poof!
Never would I have thought that I would be bringing supernaturals back to my own home.
And yet, as I stood in my own front garden, looking at the group that surrounded me, that is exactly what I had done. I had broken the main rule that I had set myself - never bring the enemy home.
The McGraws had been the exception to that rule in the past, but that was because of Helen - I couldn't send away her close friends so suddenly. It took forever before eventually, capturing Douglas shooed them away.
Now, not only were they back here, but so was my newly discovered son and my precious daughter who has been converted into a wolf. How did my life get to this?
"What supplies do we need?" Abby turns to me, breaking my train of thought.
"Food and weapons mainly, plus some tracking gear. We need to be able hunt them down and then, when the time is right, take them down." Like I had done to many supernaturals, across all of their different species, for God knows how many years at this point.
Abby nods her head at me; never thought I would be going on a hunting expedition with my daughter.
The other three... looked at me as if I was an i***t. "What?" I hated how they were looking at me.
Maeve spoke first. "Supernaturals are literal weapons. Whether its shifting or magic, we don't need much else."
"Wolves are their own trackers, we don't need gear to hunt down anyone." Jason followed after.
"And witches are able to use the Earth's energy to help sense out any dark souls. Like you, for example." Adelaide concludes as the three of them fold their arms and look at me.
Wheeling my motorcycle into the garage, Abby doing the same, I throw a response over my shoulder at the group. "And how are those skills working out for you? Considering none of your kinds reported a dark witch or wanted human fugative returning to the country to be assisted by a vampire."
A growl erupted from Jason as flickers of magic sparked from the McGraw sisters' hands. "Hit a nerve, did I?" I goaded as I looked at them.
"Enough you lot!" Abby came in and stood between the stand off that had manifested in our front garden. "We need to work together if we are to stop Gabe and his motley crew. So suck it up for now."
She turns towards Jason, Adelaide and Maeve. "If he needs his supplies and sources, then that is what we can use. The more angles we approach this from, then the more likely we are to locate them. Plus, he needs weapons for himself, not for us to use."
"And if he turns his weapons on us?" Adelaide retorts, giving me a cold gaze as she does.
"He can't take on all of us at once. We stick together and then, if he tries anything, we deal with it."
"When you say 'it', you are referring to me?" Would my own daughter take me out. Couldn't blame her, to be fair. I did try and kill her child, her mate and her friends on numerous occassions.
Abby turns her gaze towards me, none too pleased with my attitude. "If you threaten us, then you leave us with no choice. And like I said, I liked the old version of you, not this new uncovered version that I have discovered in the last couple of months."
I hold my hands up in surrender, but I still had a smug look on my face. "Just as long as we are all in agreement that I will retaliate if they try anything."
"Deal." Every single one of them, including my Abby, said in unison. I have a feeling this was going to be a fun hunting trip for the five of us.
I turn towards the house and make my way to the front door. "My gear will be in the loft. We will then need to head to the pub to borrow some food before we head out."
"Borrow? You mean steal." Maeve corrects me.
"Helen is still my wife, despite everything that has happened recently." I protest. That was my wife's pub that I bought for her. Just because Maeve was Head Chef does not give her the right to tell me what I can and cannot do in that pub.
"Still counts as stealing." Jason defends Maeve as he shoulder barges me out of the way and enters my house. "Loft, right?"
"I am perfectly capable of getting my hunting gear for myself." I march up the stairs after him. He had already got the loft hatch opened, jumped up and hauled himself into the open space above as if it was nothing.
I hate that I was impressed. This felt like showing off.
"True." His head appears out of the hatch to respond to me. "But, for all we know, you could use this opportunity to grab your gear and take us out. So, best for me to grab it."
"And you won't do the same being up there?" This was his thought, not mine. So, if he had that thought, then he could enact it himself.
"Ohh please. Like we said earlier, we do not need weapons to take you out." Adelaide folds her arms as she looks at us from the bottom of the stairs. "If we wanted you dead, we would have done it by now."
"You do want me dead. You just haven't acted on it yet."
"We haven't because we are doing this for Abby's benefit, not yours." She nods her head towards the kitchen where Maeve and Abby had gone into to see if there was any food that we could take.
"Ads. A little magical hand taking this case down." Looking up, Jason was lowering my metal case down out of the loft hatch.
"Now be careful with that." I chastised as magic began to crackle around it, lowering it to the floor as Jason landed next to it.
Opening it up, I revealed a variety of hunting gear: binoculars, night vision, handgun, silver daggers and bullets along with many other devices to take on a supernatural.
Jason's eyes widened as he looked into the case. "Most of this is for dealing with wolves."
"Well, with the Denast Coven under our command, you were the only threat in the area." I slung it all onto my body, either over my shoulder or onto my belt before making my way downstairs to regroup with Maeve and Abby.
They had only a few tin cans out on the surface. "You lived here without me and mum and couldn't buy more food?" Abby looked at me.
"Spent most of my time at Chester's so no need to buy stuff." Readjusting my gear, I looked at our odd group. "We will have to head to the pub then for more supplies."
Abby slung the few cans we had into a rucksack and swung it over her shoulder before giving me a nod. "I can say I paid for it so that we are not actually stealing from Mum."
"Uhh, fine. Lets go." Abby places a hand on my shoulder and then takes a hold of Maeve as the witches teleport us to the pub.
Only... for a shotgun to be immediately levelled at my forehead.
The wielder - Helen.
"Get away from my children!"
