40 - Abby POV

1299 Words
This was not good. What was Willow doing here? Why on Earth would she come to the pub? This has to be a trap. Or, we have caught her in a trap. I thought she was getting better - I thought the therapy sessions with Adelaide had been working, considering how she had been willing to chat to us recently. Was this all a ploy. Was I wrong? "White Crescent, eh?" Chester mulls over his words as those of us who are hiding look at each other with a mixture of panic and disbelief. "Don't tell me that White Crescent has another turncoat in their midst? They are surely not the united front that everyone makes out to be." Maeve and Adelaide continued slowly trying to descend the ladder whilst we continued to listen in on the conversation next door. Willow seems to let out a little chuckle before she responds. "Well you kinda got us with Nicole, never saw her turning her back on the pack." "Your current Luna killed her brother." What? When? Who? The only person I killed, accidentally, was... Zack!? The Blood Moon Beta is Nicole's brother. How was thst possible? I was about to get my answer, courtesy of Chester. "They had been seperated when she was born. They had been unaware of each other's existence until less than a year ago when details were released on their family." So, they knew each other before I came into the picture. For how tense this situation was, I wanted to know more. "From our understanding, they never met. They just exchanged letters with each other due to the situation with Blood Moon. They planned on meeting since Blood Moon were making their way up here but she was protecting the Beta pups when the Alpha battle happened." That would explain why they had never met before. I thought Nicole would have been present at the battle where Colt lost his father - she was such an amazing warrior that it would have made sense she was there. "So, once the Alpha fight had ended. She asked Zack if she could meet him and Alexis. But... you know the rest." "Well I will be. You do know your stuff." Maeve and Adelaide were now in the basement. Jason was trying to pull myself and Dad away so that we would follow, but it felt wrong to leave Mum to just fend for herself. Even if the attention had been taken away from her, she was still in danger. Willow seems to have made her choice. "I'm in." "In what?" "I want to take Nicole's place. I want to feed you with information." That made my blood begin to boil over again, resulting in Jason wrapping both arms around me so I wouldn't lash out at her. Chester just barked at her request. "Really? And why should we take you on?" "You seem to know your information - what do you know about me?" I could picture the smug smile on her face as she spoke. "You are Willow Grove. You had dated Alpha Colt briefly before Abby entered the picture which led to a rivalry, since you presumed you would be Luna." Now, you could hear Willow's teeth grind together. "So I have a reason to get revenge." "You have baggage that could be a hinderance to us, and we haven't had good luck with supernatural alliances. The one thing I never understood why my brother insiated on them." "Thwy can be useful. And for the record, I do not have baggage!" "How's therapy going?" The growl that came out of Willow's mouth was followed by some clicks on guns being armed. Jason began slowly pulling me towards the hatch whilst giving Dad light pushes to do the same. We have to go, whilst they are distracted. What about Mum? We will ask Ads and Maeve to teleport us so we are still close to the pub and can pick up what is going on. We can quickly get her out then if needed but we need to avoid detection. This felt so wrong, but my feet slowly pushed me towards the hatch as Dad made his slow descent down. "Therapy aside, our interests align. You want White Crescent taken care of, and I want Abby dealt with." "Yes, even I was surprised that Abby survived a knife attack like that." "She didn't - she was converted." That silenced the whole room which caused us to freeze in our tracks. "She's... a wolf now?" Chester took slow footsteps towards where I presume Willow stood. "Yes. Colt converted her as she wouldn't have survived without it." She was really giving them what she wanted. "Hmmm... that is interesting. Now, she is officially part of the problem." "That is my dau-ark!" Mum went to her protest but her words are cut off. I tried to hold back the tears as I listen from the other room. Please mum, be alright. "She is a monster now, Helen. She is not the girl you raised." "She is still my daughter, and I will not let you or anyone else harm her." "As if you have a say in the matter." Mum lets out an exhale as I can hear a thump on top of the bar. "That is somewhat handy information to know, Willow. What else do you know?" "That poof of light you saw earlier, that was Maeve leaving since she still works here." Wait... what? That peaked my curiosity. Why was she now lying? "How sure are you?" "I can smell those witches a mile away, thanks to the therapy sessions you so gleefully pointed out. Trust me, they aren't here." "And where would they be?" Chester seemed to be pacing now as his footsteps went back and forth acrosd the wooden floor. "As I was about to leave, before your people grabbed me, I saw a bright flash of light in a hosue across the lake." "That's the Stanton family home." There was a long pause before Chester spoke again. "Alright, you can take us there, and we can see if you are being accurate." "How will I be able to prove that?" "Because Helen here is coming too and can point out if anything is missing." Jason had to pin me to the floor as I was about to surge into the room. They were taking Mum! "If this gets you out of my hair, then fine." Mum was defiant, but I was becoming a mess as I silently sobbed in the next room. "Well then, lets go shall we." The footsteps began to recede as Jason pulled me back to the hatch. I was about to say something when I received a mindlink. Don't worry. I will look after your mother. Just go. It was from Willow. She was... helping us? This was such a strangs turn of events, considering our history. All I could do was a short reply, but even I stumbled over the words. Willow... thank you. Jason pulled me into the basement and closed the hatch behind us. He took a hold of my shoulders and lowered himself so he was in my eyeline. "She will be alright. Helen is a strong woman, just like her daughter." "It's still tough." I brush tears from my face. "But Willow said she would look after her." "Willow sa- you know what, never mind. We need to get out of here." Adelaide gets us all in a circle. "Where to?" "Quick stop off at the packhouse and then, we hunt." A white light encompasses us as we teleport away, only to be confronted by pack warriors going head to head with a host of unknowns. "What the hell?" "Vampires."
