41 - Willow POV

1143 Words
Well... this was not how I was expecting my new year to start. I avoided detection at the Luna Ceremony. Everyone was being so... anoying lately that I just wanted my own space. So, I hid inside, only for the pack to be attacked... we lost a lot that day. I helped where I could in the aftermath; I didn't get involved in too much fighting since I was probably the worst fighter in the pack, especially now that my wolf, Nia, seemed to be avoiding me. But, handing out refreshments and blankets in the aftermath seemed to fulfil something I had been missing for a few days. Since the loss of the Alpha pup and Beta Austin, along with about an eighth of our pack, the pack has felt hollow, like the spirit had been sucked out of it. I was finding myself wondering in territories far beyond the realms of the packhouse, but I was being drawn to these places - Sherwood Forest was becoming an old friend of mine. What I was not expecting was to stumble across a pub on lake and be surrounded by hunters; the same hunters who attacked the pack not to long ago. Evenmore so, to have to bail out the people they had been hunting down - Abby and the McGraw sisters. From the smell of it, they were also accompanied by Jason and another human as well. I don't know what compelled me to help them, it was as if a mysterious pull drew me to. But now, they were hauling myself, along with Abby's mum, Helen, to the Stanton family home. The car ride was quiet, no one wanting to talk. I had been sat next to Helen as we had Chester and another hunter in the front row seats; one other hunter sat next to us in back row and had a gun levelled at my torso whilst another car load of hunters was behind us. The road leading down to the house was a bit icy as the cars pulled up to the house. "Everyone out. Keep a close eye on these two." Chester ordered as car doors were swung open. The barrel of the gun jabs into my side to help usher me out, as if I really needed encouragement. "Search the area." Chester turns to Helen. "Where does he keep his hunting gear?" "Loft or garage." She had a very flat tone to her words. He gives the nod and hunters split off in difderent directions. The two that went to the garage pull open the garage door, revealing two motorbikes inside. "Sir, their bikes are here. Reports of Abby's movements earlier saw her leave work on hers." Chester lets out a small chuckle. "Well, well, well. Looks like they were here." His attention then turns to me. "Looks like you were right, maybe there is a use to you." "Ok, great. Can I go now?" I throw my hands to the side in annoyance. I was giving the others a way out, I did not want to be on this tracking expedition. "Why the rush?" "This is not how I wanted to be spending my day. Plus, I should be getting back to the pack." "This isn't how any of us were planning on spending our day either, but plans change." Chester gave a coy smile before another set of hunters came out of the house. "No hunting gear present." "Looks like he is still active then, just... who do we think he is going after? That is ths question." "What do you mean?" "Well, he wasn't too happy about Helen here being shot at at the Luna Ceremony." He gestures towards her, only to be met by a scowl in return. "So, is he continuing to hunt down the pack as we intended? Or, has his efforts been refocused... on his former clan?" "Scared he will kill you?" This time, it was Helem's turn to goad them. Brave woman. "Thought you were a passive type?" "When it comes to protecting my family, I am damn right murderous." That seems to be a common trait in that family - protecting each other. You would be fooled for confusing them for wolves considering it was one of our core values as well. "Well then, lets see how murderous the rest of your family truly are." Chester points at the two of us. "Take them back to the house." "I'm sorry, what?" This could not be happening. They were taking me prisoner? That was confirmed as two guns levelled at my head. "I am not a very good mole if you keep me locked up." "No, and our last mole was very handy, but you need to be properly processed before we would even consider this, for I am not as lenient as my brother." "Get your hands off of me!" Helen exclaims as two hunters grab onto her arms. "Well, I am not sure about how much they will care for you." Chester butts the barrel of his gun against my forehead to emphasise the point. "But, if they find out that Helen here is in our hands, they will soon come out of hiding." "This is illegal, Chester! You cannot jsut kidnap us." Helen tries to pull against her human restraints to no avail. "Everything we do, according to both human and supernatural law, is illegal. But, if it is for the preservation of the human race, then it is a necessity." He then moves to within a few feet of Helen, leaning in to be as imposing as possible. "Besides, you get the cops involved, try explaining this all to the humans. That supernaturals are real - they would call you crazy before they even began to investigate our little business." Helen raises her gaze so that her eyes are level with Chester's. "When my family find out, you better start running." He just sneers in response. "I would like to see them try." His attention turns back to me. "You got anything else you want to add?" "Will it get me out of here?" I very much doubt it, considering what I knew of him as a person. "No." Told you. "Then just get this over and done with." Was there any point in arguing if the inevitable was going to happen? If I fought back, I would still be captured, or worse dead. So, I swallowed my pride on this occassion and let them escort me back to the cars. All of this because I decided to do a decent thing and buy some time for Abby and her group, not to mention keeping an eye on her mum. This just shows what good deeds get you in the end. Abby, I swear to the Moon Goddess, you owe me big time for this.
