Chapter 12

The Tour

Azara’s P.O.V.

I wake up the next morning only to realize that my mate never came to bed. 

Cora, “I miss him. Were is he?”

“I don’t know Cora, he probably slept somewhere else.” I respond

She growls at that, “He belongs here.”

“K, well what do you want me to do about it,” I ask her.

“Go find him,” she responds. (I should have been expecting that.)

“No.” I tell her. 

Before she can start to argue there is a soft knock on the door. 

“Come in.”

Makenna walks in and smiles, “Time for your tour.”

“Okay, just give me a moment to get dressed,” I tell her.

I run into the closet and quickly find a cute red tank top and a pair of black leggings, with it I  wear my signature black knee high leather boots. I quickly go into the bathroom and put my hair into a high ponytail.

“Okay,” I say as I walk out of the bathroom. “I am ready to go”. 

She smiles back at me, “Okay so I think we should start at the pack house since we are already hear.”

“Sounds good,” 

Okay follow me. She walks into the hallway before saying, “We are on the 5th level of the pack house this is the floor for high ranking individuals. So the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma all live on this floor. Their personal offices ar on this floor as well.” 

I look at her with surprise, “The Alphas office is on this floor?” 

“Yes, Your room is there, and on the other end of the hall is the Alphas office, to the right is the Beta, and to the left is the Gamma.”

(I wonder if Damian slept in his office last night.) I follow Makenna as we walk down to the 4th floor. 

“Okay so the 4th floor is dedicated to the warriors. On the very end is the sleeping quarters. It is for warriors to catch sleep when on technically on shift.” 

“Your warriors sleep on shift?” I question.

“Um well our warrior shift are a little different from other packs. A warrior’s shift lasts 84 hours. There is technically only 2 shifts. Shift 1 and Shift 2. 

I nod urging her to go on.

“Each shift is broken into sub shifts A and B. Shift 1 Sub Shift A includes warrior squads 1, 2 , and 3. Shift 1 Sub Shift B includes warrior squads 4, 5, and 6. Shift 2 Sub Shift A has squads 7,8, and 9. Shift 2 Sub Shift B has squads, 10, 11, and 12.”

“Okay.”

“So, anyways like I was saying, Each shift lasts 84 hours, and from there it is broken into 12 hour increments.”

“The subshifts.” 

She smiles, “yes the subshifts, so for example for this particular shift, it is shift 2. Shift 2 is going to be on guard for 84 hours, but the sub shifts will alternate, it will be sub shift A for the first 12 then B, so on and so forth.” The sub shift that isn’t on shift stays at the warrior quarters getting food and sleep because they will be on call during there sub shift off hours. That way if there was an attack during shift 2 sub shift A’s hours it will be easier to call shift 2 sub shift B in for back up.”

(Although that seems a little complicated. It is isn’t a bad idea. “Okay, I think I understand.” 

“Good, lets go ahead and move down to the 3rd floor.” 

Makenna doesn’t say anything else as we walk down to the 3rd floor. Once we are there she turns around and smiles. “This is the pack member and omega rooms. We have a rule that says any unmated wolf over the age of 14 must stay at the pack house. Unless they get an exemption from the Alpha.”

I nod. (That isn’t a particularly unusual rule. Most packs have a similar set up.)

Without walking through the 3rd floor we head down to the 2nd floor. On this floor we actually leave the landing and head through the hallway. 

“Okay so this floor is our meeting floors. The first 3 rooms to your lefts are small meeting rooms. The room at the back is a large meeting room. It is specifically only used by the alpha. It is where most of the pack officials meetings take place.”

“Then on your right are 2 larger pack meeting rooms. Those are usually where business meetings are held. They look more like a human meeting rooms. So they generally get used for meetings in which we have humans in attendances.”

“Makes sense, I guess.”

Makenna continues to smile sweetly. “Good, lets go ahead and move to the 1st then. 

The stairs to the 1st floor enter into a huge livingroom where a lot of younger pack members are sitting, talking, and hanging out.

“This is the main pack living room. A lot of younger pack members spend time here. I honestly think that mostly has to do with the T.V.’s and the video games.”

I laugh “thats probably true.”

 We walk over to a door on the left. “ This is the dining hall. the doors to left lead to the bathrooms and the door to the right is the kitchen. They both have doors in the livingroom too so that we don’t have to go through the dining hall every time. “

With that we walk back out to living room. 

There is only one door on the right side of the living room, its the main door in and out of the house.

“ Though this is the main door, there is a side door in the kitchen.” Makenna tells me as we walk outside.

Makenna takes me through town showing me where the good stores are, which restaurants are the best, the pack meeting hall, amongst other things. Finally as we make the circle almost back to the pack house she stops and points out the pack training center. 

“All pack members train there.” She tells me. “Warriors have to train a lot, they are expect to be here for 4 hours of every sub off shift and then 6 hours a day during their off shift.”

I nod. 

“In addition to warrior training, all pack members are expect to train here for at least 5 hours a week.” 

(This pack is very focused on safety, it is no wonder they are ranked one of the strongest.)

“Do we just go there whenever we want,” I ask.

“Yes and no, you can train whenever you want but you will be required to go to the 20-25 age group training on Mondays. It’s from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.”

I smile at that (I can’t wait to get back to training. Knowing me I will probably end up living at this gym if I am allowed.)

“Okay, so I think you have seen everything. Ready to get back to the pack house?” Makenna asks. 

I sigh, (not really). “Yeah, lets head back.”

With that Makenna and I walk back to where the pack house is located. We talk a little on the walk. I find out her favorite color is light pink, her mate is on squad 7 so he is currently on shift, and her usually job is to help with the cleaning of the pack house. According to Makenna there are 12 Omegas that help clean the pack house and in addition the are 8 pack members and 4 Omegas that do the cooking. (It kind of takes me by surprise to hear how many people help take care of the pack house here.)
