CHAPTER THIRTEEN

THEODORE COHEN I almost lost it. The control. I had to get away from her right away. There was no way I could have remained in Winter's presence any longer. I hated this lust. This hunger. It never truly disappeared, especially not when I was with her. Winter wanted those answers so badly; it was a pain to watch at this point. I craved to give the answers, more than anything. I wanted to be with her. Turn her, but every love story had their own complications. Trouble had come to town. The person who I despised with every muscle in my body, was back. When I heard he had arrived, I had to see it with my own eyes. It filled me with rage, now thinking back to the past. He had always tried to make my life a living hell. Dimitri Cohen. That was the person who I despised. He labelled himself as my beloved big brother. Blood may relate us, but there was not a chance, that I would ever call him my brother. Dimitri lost that title many years ago. He was cunning like a snake, and I never knew what he was up to. No one ever knew his plans, not even his disgusting followers. This was not my only problem. I was slowly losing Winter. I could feel it, see it. Chances, I could tell her everything now, equalled zero. Now, with Dimitri back, no one was safe. If he ever found out, I cared for Winter like I did, he would go after her. Things changed for me when it came to Winter. I changed. Being one to care, had never been my intention. When I met her, all I could think about was my hunger, and how I could ever get satisfied. Now, all I could think about was to keep her safe. My desire for blood would still be there, and it would test me in every way possible, but Winter suddenly became more and more significant. It was frustrating for me. To suddenly feel this protective, but I did. "DIMITRI!" I shouted on top of my lungs. I tried for the last week to find out why he decided to come here, and I knew that would make Winter question me even more. No doubt she would question my eyes. Question the fact that I wasn't wearing sunglasses anymore. It was simple. With Dimitri being back I couldn't get seen as a weakling, and therefore the sunglasses had to come off. "Who do we have here? My beloved brother." A dark voice greeted behind me. Just by the sound of his voice, rage filled me even more. He had nothing to do here, so why he was here didn't make any sense. "Quit the friendly brother act, Dimitri." I spat bitterly. I clenched my fists to restrain myself from killing him right on the spot. I wanted to kill him, there was nothing good inside him. Not anymore. But the answers to why he was here, were more necessary... What had he been planning this time? "Come on, Theodore. Don't you miss the old days?" Dimitri replied mockingly with a smirk lingering on his lips. If I just could break his neck, this would be the least one of my troubles. "Don't you f*****g dare!" When Dimitri got near me, all I saw was red "Quit all this bullshit and tell me why you're here!" I demanded firmly. "Language Theodore. This generation has done nothing but damage to you." Dimitri chuckled humorlessly. That was why I hated him, he knew how to make my blood boil, and get the worst side out of me. "Why are you here, Dimitri?" I demanded yet again. "I missed you, Brother," He told with a fake sincere tone "Remember the old days, where we used to go into clubs and find a hot, delicious meal? I actually had one before coming here. Let me tell you... Tasty." He licked his lips right when he finished speaking, challenging me. "Remember where you would run away from our father because you were frightened that he would kill you in your sleep, huh? Remember the time where you would come home because you were starving, and the cold became too much for you? Pathetic!" Dimitri's eyes blazed with fire, his face red with anger. "At least he took it out on you while I was gone. Can I ask you, did that scar of the cigarette ever heal?" By now he smirked at me, that mocking smirk which I despised, and had grown up with throughout my childhood. The scar on my collarbone was still visible, but only if you looked closely enough. "Give me one good reason, why I shouldn't snap your neck right now, and rip your heart out!" Now, I was the one who's eyes blazed with fire. Dimitri chuckled darkly, making me narrow my eyes at him. Cunning once again, chuckling instead of answering to buy yourself time, clever move. "You want to know why I arrived here?" Dimitri commented "Too bad." His eyes darkened suddenly with determination, and I instantly knew what was coming. In the blink of an eye, Dimitri threw me up against the wall of the house. His fangs showed and his eyes transformed into the darkest they could ever get "Slow reflexes, Brother." Dimitri growled at me as I laid on the ground, my breath was shallow. I responded rapidly by letting myself turn. My strength grew, my eyes darkened and my fangs showed themselves as my teeth jagged "Not bad." Dimitri then with a hint of amusement "Maybe you aren't completely useless after all." "Don't. Ever. Call. Me. Brother. Again." With all my strength. I launched myself at him, but he disappeared in front of my eyes. "I must say that girl has gotten your mind clouded," He spoke behind me and I froze. No, how could he know about her? He had only been here for a week. My whole body tensed; I couldn't let anything happen to her. Everything seemed to stop, the only thing on my mind was how did he find out about her? How long had Dimitri really been here in Grimmwood? "Did I hit a nerve?" Dimitri chuckled darkly "Oh yes, I know about that sweet, innocent girl. Her sweet, virgin scent... Amazing..." I hadn't moved. Everything I didn't want to happen. Happened. "How?" That was the only question I could ask at that moment. Dimitri knew she existed, and now she was in danger. Winter, I clenched my fists at the thought of her being with Dimitri. "I must say, she's a good catch." Dimitri came from behind me. I didn't bother to move his hand away as it made itself around my shoulder, but I saw it as an opportunity. My right hand grabbed Dimitri's wrist. With all my strength I broke his arm and pushed Dimitri up against the house. My left hand went directly to his heart. Digging my interior hand through and in under the skin. Dimitri's breath became troubled as I had my hand around his heart. His face was now flat against the wall, and he was in pain. Never underestimate me. "HOW?!" I raged in anger. This could not happen. Dimitri's breathing was still troubled, and his words were hard for him to speak out clearly, but at that moment, I truly couldn't care less about him. I never cared about him. "I... didn't know you. Were so... in love." He chuckled darkly, despite his breathing trouble. I twitched his heart just a little to make Dimitri gasping for air "She has... a hot... slut for... a friend." He then answered desperately. "What's. Her. Name?" "Nina... Or. Something-" Dimitri's breathing sounded like dry sandpaper was on the inside of his throat. It was music to my ears. "NADORA? WAS THAT HER NAME?!" "Yes." Dimitri chuckled once again, and the sound of sandpaper returned. I retreated my hand, and Dimitri fell to the ground instantly, gasping for air as he somehow sat up against the wall. "If you touch either of them, I will not hesitate to rip your heart out!"
