CHAPTER TWO

1535 Words
WINTER BRAY November approached. The wind grew cooler, and the sky became gloomier. Every morning when I wandered down the sidewalk. I picked up the feeling that someone followed me. I wrapped my trench coat tighter around my frame as the cool atmosphere tickled my legs. I desperately stuffed my hands into the pockets of my trench coat. I felt the warmth of the pockets surrounding my frosty fingers. This was unquestionably better. I heard my own footsteps as I walked down the dim, lifeless street. Was it always this abandoned? I caught myself glancing behind my back for the third time. I shook my head. Nothing would happen, this was just a small, old town. Plus, it's nothing like before. The months of bullying had clearly done something to me, which wasn't surprising. I used to glance behind my back every few minutes. I would do everything to avoid him. Yep, my top bully was a boy, to me he was a disgrace to mankind. He would torment me every chance he got. Howlan Forrest. That was the name which I had learnt to fear. The name I wouldn't dare to say out loud. He made me feel the worst, think the worst, act the worst. A few months didn't sound like anything compared to everything else you gather out there, but trust me, he made my life a living hell. Voices snapped me out of my thoughts, and I realised, that I had made it to the school entrance. I must have been in serious thought because I totally forgot about my freezing hands and fingers. As I tried to make my way through the massive sea of pupils, I heard some high-pitched voice calling my name. I ignored the calling for a split second. The particular thing I focused on, was getting to my locker. The enormous sea of students was all trying to go in different directions. Bodies were pressed up against each other, and we could all feel each other's body heat. To be honest. It was disgusting, and the only reason everybody was in the hallway, was one specific reason. Nobody wished to be late for class, or everybody needed their books. It reminded me of a nightclub if I had to tell the truth. I let out a breath; I didn't know I was holding as I eventually arrived at my locker. "Winter Bray!" The high-pitched voice rung in my ears again. This time I did react though. Nadora Roux was on full time walking towards me. Every step could be heard over the hundreds of students. "Hi, Nadora," I replied shyly. The part about not being controlled by my shyness didn't work out as planned. I wasn't giving up, things take time, people don't change in one day. Nadora was the first person to talk to me. I figured, she somehow saw how lonely I was, and she was kind enough to talk to me. She was just as kind as she appeared. She had short dirty blonde hair, blue eyes. Nadora appeared to be small, and she was extremely skinny. She also had narrow lips. In general, she was undoubtedly pretty. Her outfits always consisted of a skirt with a feminine top. She wore a pair of heels too. How she could wear them all day long, I hadn't figured out yet, but I admired her for it. Me on the other part, I wasn't pretty. Narrow hips with no butt, yep... that's me. I had never had a boyfriend or real friends for the matter. I did have one friend, but it didn't work out. So, this whole having someone to trust thing, was pretty much new to me. "Didn't you hear me? I was calling your name from all the way down the hall." Nadora exclaimed dramatically. I couldn't help but giggle at her powerful arm waves. "Sorry." I retorted with a light smile "What's your first class today?" I carried on the conversation as I closed the locker and spun towards her again. Nadora looked thoughtful for a few seconds, and she peered up at me through her black lashes, grinning. "The same as you, the English writing class." I let out a breath of relief as Nadora finished speaking. "That's great-" I was cut off by someone bumping into me, which resulted in me being pushed into the lockers. As weak as I was. I dropped to the floor with my bag's content landing all over the floor as well. The timing couldn't have been any worse because suddenly the bell rang. "Shit..." I cursed under my breath, feeling myself blush from embarrassment. "Let me help you," Nadora said, getting to her knees. I brought my hand up, and she stopped everything she was doing. "I've got this." I smiled reassuringly "Go, I don't want you to be late." "Are you sure? I mean, it-" "Nadora, it's fine. Go, I don't want you to get detention because of me. Don't worry, I'll find my way somehow." Nadora insisted once again, but I stopped her. I didn't need to feel the slight guilt if she got detention because of me. After she left, there wasn't a soul left in the hallway. Everything was silent, the only thing that could be picked up was the clock ticking, and my own breathing. I let out a deep sigh and gathered my things. "Do you need help?" A strong voice asked behind me. I gasped and swung around quicker than the speed of light. I was met by a stunning human being. He was tall. He had jet black hair and a very defined jawline. His pale skin looked flawless and his cheekbones were very noticeable. My eyes travelled further down to look at his plumped lips. They weren't smiling, but they were in a delicate, thin line. He wore sunglasses so I couldn't see his eyes, but I imagined them to be just as handsome as the rest of him. He wore black trousers, a misty green sweatshirt, a pair of white sneakers. Plus, he was carrying a black leather jacket. His sunglasses were huge and black. By the guess of objects, I would guess his favourite colour was black. "Erm, no. I've got it." I replied, producing a short smile. I turned my head back to my things. He, however, said nothing. Instead, he went in front of me, and crouched down to my level and picked up my things. THEODORE COHEN "I insist." I declared. Winter gave me a small, grateful smile, and now the first step was complete. Meet - Check. I scanned at her. She folded some papers and made sure all was there. I noticed her small hands. The way they would carefully fold every piece of paper. A strand of hair dropped in front of her face, which annoyed me greatly. I was tempted to place it behind her right ear, so I could get a full view of her gorgeous face again. Luckily, she did it herself. She darted up at me and thank god to my sunglasses. My eyes would presumably be the darkest of dark at this moment. I wanted her. Her scent. Her body. Her blood. She quickly glanced away. I, however, continued to study her features. Her cheeks took a fair shade of pink. I smirked mentally. This was going to be easy. Winter would be mine in no time, and nothing was there to stop me from getting her. Winter reached for a notebook which none of us had yet picked up. I thought this would be the perfect moment to finally touch her. We both reached for it. Our fingers touched, and electricity streamed through me. Now, I only wanted her more. Winter let out a gasp and let her hand retreat at the blink of an eye. She stared at me astounded. Of course, I already knew why she reacted this way. She sat with eyes wide, touching her fingers were mine had been. "Your fingers are so cold." She spoke while peering up at me with the same shocked expression. I didn't reply. I grabbed her notebook and gestured for her to take it. Winter hesitated like the notebook was poisonous, and if she touched it, her heart would quit beating instantly. However, she did take it, looking surprised at the notebook. Possibly thinking it was as cold as my fingers. She stood up from the floor. I followed suit right after her. I wished to walk closer, lay my head in the crook of her neck, and really get a sense of the warmth she carried around within. I wanted to take in her scent fully, receive the true sensation of her. I stepped forward and noticed she took a minor step back. Saying nothing, I gave a stern nod toward her things which I kept in my arms. She blinked a couple of times, giving me a good look of her long eyelashes. She took a step forward again and snatched her things from my grip. She gave me a small smile and a nod. The same nod I gave her just before. With that, she took off.
