Days later
I couldn’t stay still any longer.
The walls of my chamber felt smaller with every breath I took, my chest tightening under the weight of everything I’d heard. The whispers, the looks, the silence from Dylan it was too much.
I had spent days pacing the floor, waiting for some kind of sign from him. But none came. No message. No knock. Not even the faintest tug from our bond.
Finally, I decided I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to see him to hear the truth from his own lips, no matter how much it hurt.
I slipped into a pale-blue gown, simple but neat, and brushed my hair until it no longer looked like I’d spent the night in turmoil. Lila tried to stop me when she saw me reaching for the door.
