Chapter 2.

He said, "Good night, Aurora, I will show myself out," without waiting for me to reply as he left my room and then my house. I refrained from crying until I was certain he had left. Not only did it break my heart, but I also could not stop imagining myself with this man when I became older. He was the only one who ever helped me when I was growing up, and he did not alter until he met HER. It did not escape my attention that I also understood there was nothing I could say about it. My wolf howled in agony as I replayed the ways he had rejected me, laughed at me, and even spoken to me. Her whimpers shattered my heart, mostly because I knew I could not protect her. I was not that kind of person who could satisfy her needs. I was the only one without my parents when I moved for the first time because I had lost my family when I was a child. Together with his Luna, Parker's mother Katlyn D'Angelo, Alpha Mathew supported me while they both made me obey and were kind to me. Since they were the only family I had, I had bowed to them without hesitation. Then, why did Alpha Mathew decide to abdicate in order to make his son the Alpha, knowing that I would bow to him? I knew that he was mine and that I was his because of the same night that I shifted—the night of my eighteenth birthday. Still, there was a month ago, during which he remained silent and did not respond to the bur mating bond. Not even a fleeting look of satisfaction—no response at all. And now you know why. I was going to remain silent as instructed, but the man was tormenting me, wanting a taste and yet wanting to let me go when he was finished. I was going to wash my face and suck it up, forgetting about the suffering I had endured. My sore legs made me stumble a little when I forced myself out of my bed. Still, I made it to the toilet and stood there staring at my reflection. "Omega Aurora, you will not back down in face of the Alpha. Do you comprehend that not today, not tomorrow, and not ever?" "You mean she is no longer there?" I glared at my best buddy and beta, Aiden, and asked. "At her house, we were unable to locate her. After knocking a few times and getting no response, I busted down the door, but she was not there. I stopped him and said, "Find her." Knowing that I was not playing around at this point, he nodded and hurried outside to comply with my instructions. Ella, my girlfriend, scowled at my worry, but she was unaware that Aurora was my partner. That was unknown to her! rejected her more than a month ago for her. "Why are you unhappy that she left?" She went towards me and asked, folding her arms over her chest. I shook my head at her as her brown eyes and blonde hair met mine. I said nothing as I walked by her. I attempted to detect her smell, but it was undetectable, and since I was the omega and the orphan of the pack, I knew that losing her would only infuriate my father. "Alex, I am talking to you," Ella interrupted me by putting her hand around my arm. With a warning growl, I made her release her grip. Ella struggled to take in what had just transpired and shook her head. "I am not concerned about her, but I will be in more trouble than I would like to if my father discovers that she is missing. We both understand how much he loves her, and we also know that he would be ecstatic to learn about this...It is impossible to hold you accountable for her departure, Alex; she made the decision on her own." Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to remain silent and acknowledge that she had not simply left because she felt like it. I knew that she would ultimately break, but I did not really expect her to go. I knew that watching me with Ella broke her more than she let out, and seeing as she did not say a thing about it. "Ella, will you just give me some space to think? For heaven's sake, just give me some space." Ella snarled, "I am your girlfriend, and I do not think I should be allowing you to watch you grow upset about another woman," interrupting me. With a sigh, I spun around to look at her. I gave her a brief kiss on the cheeks and forced her to turn to face me. Like all the kisses we have shared since that night, this one felt different, and not in a good way. I ran a finger softly over her jawline and said, "My darling neonata, you know that the last thing I want right now is for you to be sad; but I really have to find her before we have gotten in trouble with father." Ella sighed, but she nodded, so I was able to back off this time without becoming upset. Knowing that she was my mate—rejected or not—and that our tie would remain unbreakable—especially because I had never marked my chosen mate, or girlfriend—I attempted to track her down. "Hey Aurora, where are you?" I growled as I made my way around the pack's grounds. I knew she was not here; all I needed to know was her route so I would not be caught, but the woman was cunning enough to take numerous paths so I would not locate her. Normal Aurora... And to what exact location are you going? "You mean she is no longer there?" Dad questioned in a combative tone. As soon as we walked inside, he got up from his seat at the dining table and realised that something was not right because she had not shown up for dinner. "Alpha Parker is not to blame," he said. With the pack untied, she departed. Delilan began, but her father pounded on the table to stop her Alpha My father, Mathew, not only accepted Aurora as his daughter, but I also heard that he had hoped that we would become lovers. He was unaware that his dream had come true and that the two of us would be dying together in secrecy. "Ella, nobody spoke to you. I do not expect you to think that you would mean more to me if you are sitting at my dinner table." Not wishing to offend her, she sent out a low growl of caution, and he responded with a hushed chuckle. "You were good friends with the girl; how could you be so calm?" "Although I have been looking for her all morning, I do not think it is my duty as her Alpha to find her if she choose to go on her own. Indeed, I searched at the exact moment when an other Alpha would have expelled her from the pack and labelled her a renegade. Mom stopped me, saying, "Aurora would not have left without a cause, Alex, we all know that. Whatever her reason is, we will hear about it when she returns." We do not want you to give up looking for her till then. She would not stay in the pack for very long, but when he returns, she will not be expelled regardless of how long she stays away." I understood and nodded, knowing that opposing anything would just work against me. I was aware that having lost both of her parents in the process of saving my mother and me, they had adopted her as a daughter. We would have perished if they had not saved us from the burning building when I was a kid. We were spared, yet they perished unable to escape. Back then, Aurora was only a few months old, and she too escaped the fire unharmed. Before a wall collapsed between us, her mother had only moments before hung her to mine, trapping them inside as we left. We honoured their sacrifice by taking in their daughter when they perished in that building, either from asphyxia, the fire, or the collapsing walls surrounding them. "And when she comes back, do you realise that I want to know why she left, Alex? "Yes, dad," I replied, glancing at Ella, who I knew was itching to say something. Ella headed towards Aurora's empty seat, prompting me to shake my head at her actions. I frowned at her and told her not to before I took a seat to help my mom. Dad gave her a warning by banging on the table, which caused her to halt and take a step back, reminding her of her place. Dad gave her a fierce look and said, "Dellah, child, I will give you this last warning, and I do not care whether you or your mate like it or not. You are an outsider, not from this pack." I think you should remember yourself not to overdo it when it comes to me. Even if my son is an Alpha, you are not this pack's Luna. For that reason, if I discover you pushing the boundaries with other pack members, you will find myself in front of you. Do you see what I am saying?
