“……..Without her conscious acceptance of the process, draining her will be almost impossible. Tavan was not only siphoning Luna's strength, but also her instrumentalization. Her recent sparks in memory pose a great challenge to him.
“I must initiate a more potent ritual to perpetuate her lost memory, or else I would lose her cooperation in this immortality ritual which will make me the most powerful and dreaded Alpha”, he thought.
On the other hand is Aminta, disturbed about Anita's attachment to Tavan, who she believed was her protector and thinking he, Aminta is the venomous creature. It was a disturbing thought to Aminta.
The terror in her eyes when he had approached her, ached his heart and inflicted an injury that had a deeper impact than any scar left by any scavenging claws.
He was distracted by the arrival of Rhys who has come to study the symbols on the scroll they got from Tavan's library.
"He wants her to forget about me," Aminta growled while passing the scroll to Rhys. "She wishes to acknowledge him as her 'protector."
“He made her think so! And if she thinks otherwise, his magic will not be effective” Rhys snorted in anger as he adjusted to read the eerie words with his expression, contrite.
"Alpha, we shouldn't just work on saving her physical body..... We need to also save her mind and disabuse it from all Tavan's lies". What is the use of saving someone who sees us as enemies? He observed while gazing at Aminta.
Aminta closed his eyes, focusing. The warmth emanating from the joined necklace was piercing his chest, more intense than ever. It was a connection, essentially.' "Our destined bond”. His voice was full with deep hope, ‘‘That is why the necklace shine.’’ Another murmur:. It's the reason why she hasn't been completely engrossed in his magic. But the bond remains, even when he tell lies. I must find a method for using it. To whisper to her. To break through. ".
The next day, they spent the night preparing.’ Direct assault was suicidal with their present state of preparedness. They were compelled to bypass Tavan's body for his mental detention.
"If someone is stuck in their own mind, what's the best way to whisper to them?" Lena inquired.
Aminta remarked, "Reasons... Dreams, with a flickering of an idea taking hold. Or through old experiences shared….".
“It will be easier to utilize the shared memory channel of sworn mates through her dreams”. Says Rhys.
“Moon Goddess give mates ‘deep bonds of friendship’. And it goes beyond death and beyond anything else.". The truth must not be transcended by Tavan's lies” he added.
Aminta has an idea, a simple new plan, but it was highly perilous: sending out small teams of their top soldiers -- including Scout chief Elias, Algama and Scout leader Lena to draw guard interest around Tavan's compound. While the Mura Pack were occupied, Rhys would use the strong connection of their fate, reinforced by the necklace to reach directly into the mind of Anita. ". It was a risky decision, but the exercise had just begun. He felt it inside of him.
As darkness recommenced, Aminta discovered a hidden corner near the compound, shrouded in intense shadow. In the cold air, he breathed deeply in. Felt the joined necklet in his hand, he could feel its heat. He focused on Anita, recalling the moment when she laughed, the way her eyes sparkled, and the gentle touch of her hand. His mind was filled with vivid and sharp images of their childhood. He dedicated the bond to his all-encompassing love, desperation, and authentic recollection.
Anita. Remember me. Remember us. He sent out a silent cry of his heart, hoping that the thought would break Tavan's oppressive magic.
Anita was restless on her cot while inside Tavan's fortress. To her, it was a dream but in actual sense, a projection from her mate. Her head throbbed. Tavan had stated that Aminta was a monster, but there was an unfamiliar pain in her chest. She was unable to put into words the profound, perplexing sorrow.' Despite his gentle words, Tavan's presence caused her to feel cold fear.
Suddenly, a flash. A feeling, not in sight.' The fragrance of pine and a distinct, protective scent.' Something as insignificant as a half-written poem. A gentle and powerful hand strode through her hair. Shaking her head, she tried to clear it off but another unpleasant memory was what Tavan also projected to her, attempting to build a defense from within.
Then, a whisper. Her thoughts are not within her ears, but rather there.' Anita. My Luna.
She gasped, sitting bolt upright. It was not Tavan's voice. That deep, unrefined feeling was infused with such... longing. The familiarity within it was enough to scare her. She held her head, with a sense of unease.
Tavan was quite suspicious of the developments, his eyes narrowed. Felt the disturbance, the slight shaking in his bond that felt regulated.
Do you have nightmares?’ His voice softened slightly but with a threatening focus. He came closer, touching her forehead. The familiar sway of dark energy washed over her, disguising the unsettling whisper that caused some blurring.
Aminta felt it. A wall. A pushback. Tavan was fighting him. The very reason he sent the teams of their top soldiers ahead to cause a distraction to Tavan against such resistances.
He gritted his teeth. He wouldn't give up. He pushed harder, sending pictures of them sharing their secret childhoods, the first time they settled under shadows in the woods, and the promise of their matching neckwear.
Please, Anita. Remember. It's me. Aminta.
Anita's scream was insignificant, and she became restrained. She was enchanted by the flashing images of a boy running after her in the sunlit woods, while laughing. Her hand holding a silvery, half-mooning object. These were contrary to Tavan's lies. These felt real.
Tavan's face transformed into a mask of cold fury, and he saw the struggle in her eyes. "He'll try to break you down," he whispered, his voice becoming muted. He pressed harder, his dark magic swirling around her, trying to wipe out the memory. "Stop, little one!". You are being manipulated! ".
The Traitor Within.
As Tavan poured more dark magic on Anita, there was a small squeal from the door. A trusted ally of Tavan, Kapus from the Mura variety, was present and holding his side. "Alpha," he said, "The perimeter has been crossed." Aminta's pack. They are directing their attention towards the north and west.
Tavan held his hand up to Anita’s forehead for the moment. His presence can not be felt in all places simultaneously. He was unable to both deal with the external threat and keep Anita's mind intact. He'd be overstretching his power.
Kapus was yelled at by Tavan. "Come and get some real fast"!
He retreated to Anita, but the distraction was sufficient. "I have more pressing concerns!" added one.
The wall had been broken off in Anita's thoughts. The muddled memories were still present, struggling to be released. Tavan's irate expression extended as far as the spot where he sensed Aminta' presence. The warmth of the necklet, and a small, fearful doubt about Tavan began to emerge.
Seeing that Tavan's bond with Anita was fleeting, Aminta put all his remaining energy into one last mental request. A desperate plea followed. Anita, the fire... the night... I did not leave you. I searched for you!
Anita's eyes squeezed shut. The fire. The screams. The pain. A rushing back of horrifying truth.’ The picture depicts a young brave man named Aminta, who was fighting to save her, before the blackout. Despite his efforts, he was outnumbered and she had been taken by the arm.
Her eyes to reveal a clear, green-eyed feeling that was suddenly terrifying. Her expression towards Tavan was one of horror and cold anger, rather than fear....
After noticing the shift, Tavan roared. "No!". He raised his hand again, ready to unleash a spell of pure force and remove her from sight. He couldn't bear the thought of her remembering. Not now. It was crucial to his entire rise.
The surge of Tavan's power, the last push to wipe out Anita's memory, left Aminta aware that he had to take action. The shield had been broken, but Tavan was about to shut it down permanently. He had to
physically arrive at the location to complete his task and claim his Luna.
