I looked up from my computer to see that the time was 7pm from the wall clock. I sighed as I shut down my computer as I was done for the day. Carlos hadn't come back to work since he left the elevator in the afternoon and he didn't drop any messages for me so I figured it was safe to head home.
I grabbed my bag from the table and headed for the elevator while silently praying that the elevator wasn't going to break down again. Carlos wasn't here to save me anymore so I was going to be all alone if something happened.
I got into the elevator while still praying in my heart. I closed my eyes until it dinged indicating that it had gotten to the ground floor. I heaved a sigh of relief as I made my way to the elevator. I bumped into Maureen as I was leaving the building.
