(Angela ) It was early in the morning when the nurses came to wheel Charles into the theatre for his surgery. The doctor had taken time to explain the procedure to me, the risks, and the type of anesthesia that was going to be used for the surgery. She had allayed all my anxiety but I still feared for my son. Going under the knife wasn't a regular occurrence so I was right to be scared. I wasn't a religious person but I found myself praying for Charles every minute for the surgery to be successful. All the issues I had with Carlos flew out the window as I was only concerned about one thing; Charles's swift recovery. Lou was there with Charles and me throughout the night and I was grateful once again for a friend like her. She left early this morning to get some clean clothes and underwea
