That evening, Faye took care of me without asking questions. I was a mess. Faye found me curled up around the diner's side, shaking and crying. The question was on the tip of her tongue, but she opted to help me up and led us to the car where she deposited me in the passenger seat. And the following day, we found ourselves in a rather unfortunate situation. I was screaming at the top of my lungs, feet barreling down the street, Faye a few paces ahead of me. I threw a quick look over my shoulder and regretted it immediately. They were gaining on us, and that glance made me lose momentum.
