Startled that he knew about Sydney's cases and had connected her, she replied, “Who should I say is concerned for her safety?”
“Just an innocent bystander who'd hate to see her hurt,” he said.
She recognized he wouldn't be forthcoming with his name as he nodded and walked away. She sped up her pace on Broad Street to hail a minivan back to the condo to tell Sydney what happened.
