Uniformed officers from West Garside Police descended upon the village of Lower Tetney. Inspector Jim Emery, Sgt Carol Tombohm, PCs Valerie Overton, Mary Grainger and Felipe Arnesto-Fernandes, and a dozen or more other uniform officers hovered around, waiting for a technician from the installers of the electronically controlled ornamental gates to manually open them.
It took four phone calls to establish that the gates had been installed by the Garside Gates and Windows Company and they had been requested to urgently send a technician to open them manually.
