The next morning, Val woke up in bed with a strange guy next to her. She was terrified on that moment, she didn’t know she will end up with him. “What the f**k?!” she whispered recognizing the man’s face. She hastily gets up from bed and carefully took her clothes on and escape from him. Val raked his hair with her fingers as she stride out of the bar, looking behind her to check if someone’s following her. She sighed in relief after getting out of the place. “I shouldn’t have done that,” she irritably mumbled as she pulled the strands of her hair out of annoyance to herself. Val hurried back to her deceased father when her stepmother begs to talk to her in person, she was rolling her eyes and pouted her lips while she’s on her way home. Her stepmother is treating her nicely since she lived with their family but Val thinks that she is just pretending to be the most awesome stepmom on the world. She hates her so much because she thinks her stepmom is always ruining all of her plans. “What does she need from me again?!” she gets out of the car and pays the driver, Val also sells her car so she have no way out but to ride on a cab. She was standing in front of the door of their big mansion and staring at it while reminiscing her good memories together with her complete family, she didn’t stop her tears from falling, it immediately rolls down her cheek and wipes it as soon as she heard the screeching of the door. Val knows that it was her stepmom, “you’re finally here!” she grasp and hugs her, Val’s heart jump when she did that to her and she was feeling disgusted at the situation she wherein. She is not used to this for she thinks that it wall all her pretentious, “will you please stop this act, Elizabeth?” she says strictly and removes her stepmom’s arm away from her, “what do you want from me? Why do you want to talk to me?” she continues. She saw how Elizabeth looks miserable, her eyes were full of sadness and has dark circles around it, and she even lose weight! “C-can we… can we talk inside?” she stuttered as she tries to touch Val’s arm but Val dodge it as if she was being disgusted being touched by her. “NO. Just tell me why do you want to talk to me,” Val coldly replied. “I am begging you not to sell all the properties that your father had given to you because that’s the only thing we have,” Elizabeth can’t help but cry in front of her stepdaughter. “I am sorry but you’re late, I already sold them.” She says as look away scanning the living room from her position, she noticed how messy it was unlike before… when her father was still alive. She felt something pinches her heart during that moment but she convince herself not to be kind to the woman in front of her. Val frowned her brows and interrogates her, “and why do you want to me to keep them? Are you interested in that properties?” She looks at her pitiful eyes, “to be honest, I am also planning to sell this house but you are lucky because my sister loves you so I pitied you for giving this shelter for you and your favorite stepdaughter! Oh by the way, where is she again? Where did Lucille go?” Val added. Lucille Val’s younger sister, Val is five year older than her and even though they are sisters by blood, she can’t avoid thinking why her younger sister is closer to Elizabeth than her since they met. Val didn’t wait for her answer and was ready to go till she saw the car parked outside their house; she waited for the driver to come out and got a lot of questions on her head upon seeing her sister coming out from the car. “What is happening?” her mind asks as she scanned Lucille’s extravagant outfit, she walks in their direction as she take off her glasses. Her jaw drop as soon as she saw her older sister, “hey, Val! I miss you!” she hugs her tightly and kisses her on the cheek. Val didn’t get move to her action, she take a step backward and smile slightly, “I don’t think you miss me. You look having fun with your life!” she sarcastically uttered while staring at the expensive car parked outside their gate. Lucille follows her older sister’s eyes direction, “I… I just borrowed that car from a friend,” she explains. Val knows she’s lying. “Nice car, huh.” She commented, tapping Lucille shoulder and turns her back from them. “Don’t leave us, Vaaaal.” She heard her stepmother’s scream but she continued on walking, she also heard her sister asking questions to Elizabeth. “Are you really leaving us, Val?” Lucille shouted. She turns to them with a smile, “yes and it’s for good.” “But how about me?” Lucille’s voice trembles. “You are at the right age, you are free to live wherever you want to live. It’s your life after all, just do what makes you happy,” she advised. “But…” she lowered her gaze, “I want to learn from you about lot of things. Don’t leave me just how are dad leave us.” Remembering their dad makes Val feel bad but she didn’t want her younger sister to get involved to anything she will do in the future, she turns her cold shoulder and walks. “I’m sorry but I have to leave for good,” she whispered. Val didn’t realize she reached the gate, her tears started to blur her sight. She continued walking carelessly without thinking where she’s going. Her memories with her dad and Lucille flashes through her mind making her heart suffered from pain. She heard a screech of the car stops near her but she just passes by it not until men wearing black suit comes out from it and stands around her, holding her arms. “Come with us quietly,” the man whispered. Her knees trembles as her heart jump, she started to panics and can’t think of any idea on how she will get away from this situation. “Wh—what do you want from me? I have no any penny. All of my family were gone and no one will –” “Shut up! Just hop in!” the man shouted at her but she didn’t want her plans in the future get in vein so she stomped on their feet with full strength thinking she can escape from them but she didn’t succeed. ---
