The Kingdom of Kardias victory was not built overnight. It was built over thousands of dead bodies of children, men, and women, for years and counting. It was what they called patriotism; sacrifice for love. They were warriors. They were praised. They were glorified. But the only ones who felt the real pain were the loved ones, the mothers, the kids, the brothers. They are the ones who cried for endless nights, went crazy from the pain, and promised themselves they would avenge their loved one's death. Diana Rosi was one of them. And her mother, Gamora Rosi was a warrior that was stolen from her family. Diana Rosi "Thank you for all your work during this battle. I keep telling the four of you, the reason for our victory truly begins with all of you." The King's voice echoed through his empty chambers and towards his four guests. "Thank you, your highness." All the four soldiers bowed to the King simultaneously. "Your payment will be sent to the house. You may leave now." All four bowed again and proceeded to leave the room. "Diana, you should stay for a second.  I need to talk to you." The fourth soldier obediently stayed back. "Yes, your majesty?" Diana asked as she stood tall again in front of the King. "I am concerned for your father's health, my child. The word around the town is he's having random breakdowns during the day. Is there anything we can do to help, child?" The King asked with pain laced in his voice. Diana thought maybe he felt guilty. First, she lost her mother to war, and now her father to post-war trauma. She was basically an orphan and she knew about it. She thought about it a lot. Maybe the King felt responsible and maybe it's true in a way. But what could she do about it now? "The best medical aids have tried to help him, Lord. Nothing can be done. Sometimes he is talking to my mama, and- I would try to stop him, try to tell him she is dead, she is not with us anymore." Diana's throat felt tighter and tighter as she spoke. She looked down at the floor as the images of her father's breakdowns played before her eyes like there were happening right this second. The images of her father laughing with empty air and her crying and begging her father to stop. She was scared. The more she cried, the louder he laughed. That was when the truth became more clear, became harder for her to digest. She was losing her father too. "But lord, I think he prefers to live in a world where she is still with him. And who am I to take that away from him?" She asked with a bitter chuckle in the end. She continued to look down, trying her best to not let the tears flow down. "I- I am so sorry. I don't know what to tell you. Lift your head up, my child," The King gently told her, "A brave strong soul like yours should never look down. I bow down to you and your family, and all the honor you have brought to this Kingdom. We will always be indebted to you." Diana had a secret so big that only two people knew about it. The King and her father. In a world of supernaturals, hybrids were hands down the strongest of them all. And Diana was a rare werewolf-witch hybrid with so many powerful abilities making her one of the strongest beings to exist. She was the perfect military weapon for victory and that's precisely why the King decided to keep her true nature as a secret. Instead, she worked as one of the four members of the highly classified KSS mission. The letters that documented all their work were written and stored by the King in his personal cabinet, which in case of the sudden unfortunate death of the king, his son would now have all access to the information. And in the case of the Kingdom of Kardias, fortunately, no such event has taken place; yet. When days were peaceful, for as long as they could be, the King requested Diana to watch over his precious princesses. Well, of course, Diana did this in the most subtle way she could. The princesses and she were best friends. They were inseparable. But this happened a few years ago when they were all tiny six-year-old kids, way before Diana was even part of KSS. Diana was often being looked after by the Royal cook, Gina when her mother was busily occupied in the training grounds in the royal palace. And one day when Gina was the busiest, Diana out of boredom and curiosity snuck away and found herself in front of two small girls playing with a beautiful rich doll set. Not having a lot of friends growing up, the two small girls immediately welcomed Diana into their small group. And as they all grew up, the King noticed their beautiful bond and requested a sincere favor from Diana. To protect his princesses. The princesses' names were Hestia and Gaia. Hestia was eighteen while Gaia was sixteen. Diana being the oldest was twenty years old. Gaia was the smartest one, and Diana always loved listening to her; especially when she constantly complained about the growing patriarchy. Diana could see what a smart beautiful queen she would become one day. Hestia was equally smart and wise, but humorous even more so. Hestia could make anyone laugh with her wit and charm the hardest man in the room in a heartbeat. And despite being older than the two princesses, Diana found herself learning from them all the time. Growing up with the princesses also meant, growing up with the princes, and Prince Adonis to be exact. He never paid her any attention growing up, or that's what she believed, but one night a year ago, Adonis and Diana happened to get so incredibly drunk, they found themselves entangled in the bed the next morning. Over the year, they had found themselves in an unspoken agreement of some sort, and build a bond that nobody could name what it was. Diana often thought about it. Am I just a friend? A mistress? A mistress until he finds his true love? Or am I his lover? Diana could not help but fall in love with him for she had never given herself, her body, her soul, the way she had given it to him. But now she couldn't go any longer knowing it was hurting her more than pleasing her. She wanted more, she wanted a lover, a mate, and if he could not give it to her, she would find someone who did. But even after telling herself all of this, she couldn't help but reminisce her old memories with him. Especially of that one night, when he made her a promise that he might not even remember now. "Adonis, what is something that shows your true self but if broken, it can never be fixed?" Diana asked her love as she laid in his arms, their naked skin burning each other in a form of heat and intimacy that she's never felt before. A sense of fulfillment and protection. A sense of belonging. A sense of dread; for this has to end soon. But only if she could stay here forever. "A mirror?" He replied as he traced her shoulders and neck with his soft lips. His very slight beard tickled her back making her giggle and squirm. "Stop moving." His voice hoarse, commanding, and playful. "Can you stop ticking me?!" Diana argued but couldn't stop laughing as he continued to tickle her purposely. She squealed and he continued to hold her tightly in his grip. "Please, my lord." She desperately pleaded tiredly but still giggling at his torture. Something about the way she said 'please, my lord' immediately turned Adonis on. He stopped instantly and pulled her, even more, closer to him. "I can feel your thoughts, Adonis." Her voice was becoming more soft and seductive making Adonis harder than he was right now. He smiled against her skin and began to kiss her neck. "And I want to feel yours, love." He whispered in her ears while his hands found her lovely bosom and began to knead them. His fingers found her growing hard n*****s and pinched them ever so lightly. "Adonis..." She moaned his name and in a second he was on top of her with his lips around her swollen n****e sucking it mercilessly. Just as he was about to start his act of love-making for the fourth time that night, Diana stopped him. "Please stop, I don't think I can go again. I'm tired." She looked at him with those big brown eyes of hers, and it just made him want her even more. He sighed and kissed her cheek softly before getting up. They went back to their previous embrace and Adonis tried really hard to distract himself from the dark beauty that laid against him. "Was my answer correct? Is it the mirror?" "No, it's a promise." "I knew that. Did Gaia ask you this?" "No." Diana chuckled, "Mama once asked papa this question. And I thought the answer was easy, but only men seem to find it hard to answer." She replied taunting him playfully. "Oh? Are you implying men are dumb or men can't keep promises?" "I implied nothing at all, my lord. But pray tell me, is that what you think?" "You and that smart mouth of yours. I would like to prove you wrong." "How so?" She turned around to face him. Her eyes were challenging his. "I will make you a promise." And his looked sincere. "What is the promise?" "I promise you that I will always be there for you." His voice held that promise and so did his eyes. Not being able to control their emotions, both of them dived in a kiss that held more than the promise. It held sweetness, power, trust, love, and lust. They broke apart from what had been the best kiss they've ever had. They were both breathing hard with a very surprised look on their face. Diana smiled first and eventually they broke into fits of laughter. That kiss had shaken them up. "What if you break that promise?" "I won't." And what a lie that was.
