As I stepped inside, I found Mom and Dad settled comfortably on the couch in the living room, the flickering glow of the TV casting shadows across their faces. They were watching a movie, but the moment I entered, Mom turned her head and looked at me with a curious smile.
"What are you smiling about, sweetheart?" she asked, her eyes twinkling with warmth.
