“Victor, what are you doing here?” I asked, my voice trembling with a mixture of shock and betrayal. My eyes searched his face, trying to read the truth behind his expression.
He took a step closer, a hint of a nervous smile flickering across his face. “How have you been, Mega?” he asked softly, almost as if trying to comfort me.
I clenched my fists, my voice rising. “How have I been?! That’s all you have to say after disappearing without a word? After leaving me wondering if you were even alive?” I yelled, the pain and anger bubbling up uncontrollably. “I’ve been worried sick, Victor. Do you have any idea what that did to me?”
