MEGAN’S POV
I took a deep breath, determined not to let Emorie and Victor’s presence spoil my day. I straightened up and gave Jemma a reassuring smile.
“You good?” she asked softly.
“Yeah, I’m okay,” I replied, trying to sound confident. I reached out and squeezed her hand gently. She smiled back, her eyes full of understanding.
“Well, come on then, girl,” Jemma said cheerfully, grabbing my hand and pulling me toward the water. “Let’s go for a dip!”
Just as we headed toward the waves, she called out to Alec, “Aye, baby, can you watch our stuff for a minute? I can’t have Meg here feeling like a third wheel.” She grinned playfully, giving me a wink.
Alec laughed “Sure thing” nodding back and settled nearby with our things as Jemma and I ran into the cool, inviting surf.
As we stood there, letting the waves wash up to our feet, I couldn’t help but feel the cool water swirling around my ankles. The ocean was soothing, but my focus suddenly shifted as Victor’s eyes met mine. For a moment, our gazes locked, an unspoken connection flickering between us.
I saw the way his eyes roamed over my body with a hunger that made my skin crawl and my heart race. There was something raw and intense in his stare, as if he was trying to imprint my image into his mind. My breath caught, and I instinctively took a step back, feeling exposed under his gaze.
Just then, Emorie moved her head, leaning in to kiss him. The sight made my stomach tighten with a strange mix of envy and discomfort. I quickly looked away, my cheeks flushing, my mind swirling with conflicting emotions.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. No matter how tempting or dangerous the tension between them, I knew I couldn’t let it ruin my day or my sense of self. I focused on the sound of the waves and the feel of the cool water against my skin, determined to stay grounded and enjoy the moment.
Jemma and I were now in the middle of a fiercely fun swimming competition, racing to see who could reach the buoy first. We kicked and paddled with everything we had, our laughter echoing over the sound of the waves. The sun sparkled on the water as we surged forward, our muscles straining with effort.
Finally, we both reached the buoy at the same time, gasping and laughing as we clung to it, our hearts pounding. We floated there for a moment, catching our breath, feeling the warm sun on our faces and the cool splash of the sea.
“I think we’re tied,” Jemma said with a grin, her cheeks flushed from excitement.
“Looks like it,” I agreed, smiling wide. We floated around, playful and carefree, enjoying the moment before making our way back to the shore.
As we headed back, I couldn’t help but notice Alec sitting alone on the sand, looking a little lonely. His shoulders slumped slightly, and his gaze was fixed on the waves.
“Hey,” I turned to Jemma. “Your boo is looking like he misses you already”
She looked up, a small smile forming as we made our way to him.
I was struggling to walk back along the shore when a sudden wave rushed in, knocking me off balance. My legs wobbled, and I was almost face-deep in the water when strong, firm hands reached out and grabbed me, steadying me before I could fall completely.
“Careful there, love,” a deep husky voice murmured, warm and reassuring.
I looked up, my breath catching in my throat. He was the most handsome man I’d ever seen. Eyes dark and piercing, a confident smile playing on his lips. My gaze was glued to him, unable to look away. It felt like an invisible magnetic field was pulling me closer, drawing me into a world I didn’t want to leave.
Before I could say anything, Jemma whispered softly from behind me, “I know that look.” Her voice was full of amusement and understanding.
She giggled, then suddenly ran off towards Alec, leaving me standing there, hypnotized by this mysterious stranger. I blinked, trying to regain my composure, but the image of his smile and those intense eyes lingered in my mind.
Who was he? And why did he seem to have such an effect on me? I took a shaky breath, feeling both nervous and strangely exhilarated, wondering what this unexpected encounter might mean.
Just then, his eyes flashed…..a remarkable shade of orange, glowing softly in the sunlight. My own eyes responded instinctively, turning a deep, fiery red. The moment our gazes locked, I knew without a doubt that he was my fated mate.
It was as if the entire world suddenly made sense for the first time. A profound warmth spread through me, and I could feel the bond beginning to settle into place, weaving itself into the fabric of my very being. There was no denying it now, this was destiny.
His eyes shimmered with a mixture of surprise and understanding, as if he sensed it too. The connection pulsed between us, strong and undeniable, whispering promises of something greater than I could have ever imagined.
It was everything Jemma had said about soulmates and more. I felt alive in a way I never had before, as if all the pieces of my life had been waiting for this moment to click together.
He spoke first, his voice smooth and warm, offering me his hand with a confident yet gentle smile.
“Sebastian,” he said softly, his eyes locking onto mine as I took his hand. “Nice to meet you, lovely lady.”
He laughed softly, a rich, genuine sound that seemed to echo the warmth of the moment. “Who would have thought I’d meet my fated mate at a place I was reluctantly dragged to?”
I smiled, feeling my cheeks flush at his words. There was an easy charm about him, but beneath it all, I could sense something deeper…something powerful and true.
“I’m glad you decided on coming” I said, my voice trembling slightly.
He nodded, his gaze never leaving mine. As we stood there, the world around us seemed to fade away, leaving only the electric connection between us.
