Sandra was looking at me, eyes as wide as saucers as she watched Judith hack away at my beautiful long dark hair. My hair was my pride and joy, part of my individuality which was now falling like feathers, gracefully yet defeated to the floor. I watched each feather fall and focussed on them in an attempt to delay seeing myself in the mirror. I knew my smile wouldn’t hold if I had to watch. My neck began to grow cold as the unfamiliar feeling of a sudden exposure to air fell upon it. My cheeks were aching with the forcefulness of fake emotion, my body betraying my soul by displaying such a positive reaction to such a heart-wrenching moment. I concentrated on those tufts of hair for what felt like hours whilst Judith swiftly moved onto Sandra’s hair. I couldn’t watch, knowing that the same
