I used to be told that I was "the life of the party" or "things aren't as fun as when I'm around" of course those are coming from the very selective few who has seen my fun personality, unlike my sister I was always grateful for my social life, I always knew what to say, always knew how to comfort others some would call it a gift I would say blessing. I knew than I wanted kids, especially girls I'd be able to connect with them see eye to eye, relate with them. Numerous of practices yet somehow tonight it seems I forgot my training, there I sat in the kitchen of the round silver table at the far end, Isaac in the middle on my left, and he at the far right. In an aerial view we'd make the perfect triangle, the smell of their strong colognes almost took away the fresh aroma of my pasta The only sounds being heard were Utensils hitting plates, crunches of bread chewing and swallowing. You'd think after not hearing and seeing your son for so long, conversations and laughter would be pouring through. What's going on? But it was however just an excuse, an excuse to see Isaac again. I'm almost ashamed to admit it myself, just sitting next to him made me feel warm inside. It's not out of curiosity this time, I want to. The clinking of the utensils before me gave me just the excuse I needed, I look up to both of them surreptitiously. My eyes land on Him first, a small giggle left my chest and I feel my heart flutter a bit, He is practically inhaling his plate although the very sight of the man makes me secretly wished he choked on something it warms my heart knowing he was always and still is a big fan of all my home cooked meals. My cooking would always bring us together no matter how big the fight. Reaching out for my Moscato I nearly almost spilt the glass when my eyes land on The forest green ones, A ghost of a smirk appear on his face while his eyes pierce right through me, a face so calm yet dominant however something in those eyes didn't show anything seductive or mischievous they look distant and a bit sad. The sound of me clearing my throat makes him blink out of his distant gaze. "How was college?" I ask desperate to clear the elephant in the room. "Boring" he says stodgily "What you study?" I try to continue. "Business." One word again Man of few words, Different from his father that's for sure. My eyes meet His once more, it's as if he's signaling me to not continue with the way he scrunches his nose when he chews. "I'm sorry if I knew you were here earlier I'd-" My words were cut when I see the darkness pooling In his eyes and the half smirk building He really did see me. f**k! The memories rendered me silent and I'm forced to look anywhere but the table, I can feel beads of sweat run down on my forehead. I look back at Him and motion with my head to say something. Sallowing roughly He clears his throat, visibly going over things in his head as if he's having inward battle about the idea "Did you rest well?" He manages to say. Isaac says nothing in response and kind of continues about his business as if there was no one else in the room but me and him. He turns his head to face me again and that far away look is back the more he looks the more naked I feel. Say something, say something I thought to remove the awkwardness. "Do I have something on my face?" I cheesily ask. Really? That's the best I can come up with. What's happening to me? "That chair used to be my mothers" he says looking away as if it's too painful to speak of. My heart breaks. I see. He's not secretly stripping me I'm in his mothers seat, a woman he lost was it appropriate to think I felt a little jealous it wasn't me he was looking at? I blink away to look at his father who's eyebrows just furrowed at the mention of his late wife. shit I'm butchering this moment. "My sincerest condo-" "Change the subject" my husband rudely interrupted. Isaac snaps his head to his father finally acknowledging his presence. If anger was a person I think I would never want to meet him face to face, although I can't see Isaacs eyes I can feel the flames his body is emanating, chest heaving up and down. What is going on here? Why the anger? Why the hostility? I'm definitely not gonna get along with this boy if he takes everything to heart. Before I can put in my two cents I jumped at the sound of utensils slammed on the table catching my attention. Isaac leans back on the chair one arm propped up with his tatted hand running down his face in a calm demeanor. Goodness the way his biceps moved in the shirt had me drooling. Focus. Isaac visibly fought with himself, his massive leg bounces widely on the floor, I thought we'd have an earthquake. But his movements are well calculated Almost as if he's fighting not to fly across the table to slice his fathers neck open. To which I'd happily condone. After a few seconds pass he huffs out a smirk "I guess something's haven't changed i guess" he says all while forcing a half smile. This time he faces the front and I read his emotions. Pain. All I see is pain. Him and his mother must have been very close. "It wasn't that hard to get remarried was it"? Isaacs continues. "It was easy to forget her since you were never loyal in the first place". Now that fully got my attention turning completely to his father expecting an answer to that statement. "Your not a one woman man." That statement was the beginning To a new era. Was he cheating on his late wife like he is with me? Was this the reason to her end? I patiently wait for His response but like I said. Clever man. He slowly turns to look at me after avoiding eye contact for a moment, his eyes finding mine studying my body finding a reaction all while battling what to say, nothing, even though I knew this already it still hurt seeing at how he wasn't denying it. I look away trying to blink away the tears. A small silence pass through once more "So you really haven't changed I see" interrupting the momentary self pity I was about to cast on myself, Isaac must've been reading our eyes and body language towards each other while He laid low. I can't answer him, what good would it do? He smirks at me once more as he rises up from the table muscular hands extended leisurely grabbing the wine bottle, anything he did was so was so hypnotizing to me "The food was heavenly Ms Elizabeth I hope next time I could be able to have this while enjoying another show". I look at him wide eyed as he winks at me, I didn't realize my jaw dropped until I quickly snapped my mouth shut, with heavy steps Isaac disappeared up the stairs and I'm left with Him once again. What is there to say? I can't even fathom the proper words. The loudest silence ever. "I'll help with dishes" he says head down "I got it" I say too quickly voice breaking. I clean dishes still feeling his eyes on me, I hear the screeching of the chair slide on the floor and heavy footsteps approaching cologne closing in on me, it's then I hear the words ....."I still love you" and that was close enough to the confession I needed before the water works break and I'm bawling. Fuck f**k f**k no he didn't deserve to see me like this, he takes my waist and tries to pull me against him only to be met with the back of my hand, ignoring the stinging and joint pains I fly up the stairs. Slamming The door of our bedroom locking it, I press my back against it slowly sinking down In despair as tears fall with me. He didn't follow me, I heard the sound of distant keys jingling, the door opening and closing, the start of an engine roaring outside, blue lights shining through the window creating a projection on the wall I watch it slowly shrink indicating him backing out of the parking lot, it disappears completely telling me he's driven off, good I need space. Though I sat there for 30 minutes it felt like forever and I grew bored, something told me inside I needed to check on Isaac, standing off to dust myself off I go to the mirror again to check my curves, fixed my locs, wipe the tears, pulled out some lipst- wait why am I applying lipstick? I placed it down and head out the bedroom to check on Isaac. I reach his room And hesitantly knocked. Silence. Knocked three more times, no answer, did he not come in his room? I reach for the handle relieved when it wasn't locked, slowly prying the door open I come face to face with complete darkness. Did he not come in here? I quietly crept inside to double check, examining the room it seems he hasn't made himself at home yet the bed was as if no one touched it, I see only one duffel bag and a vibrating phone next to it. As I approached deeper inside my foot stomps on something creating a crunching sound underneath my feet, I look down in the darkness trying to adjust my eyes I reach down to pick up what looks like a photo frame is this what fell earlier? I stupidly try to adjust my eyes in the darkness when the lights fill the room. "What are you doing in here" the deep sexy voice says.
