Chapter 29 Genevieve and Jade grew closer as the days passed. She learned to listen to the wolf’s rapid assessments of other creatures and of their surroundings. As pink stormclouds filled the sky, Jade helped her to find shelter beneath a grove of violet trees, knowing they wouldn’t have time to return to the daimons’ caves before the storm. Jade showed Genevieve their full wolf form, should they need to blend into a wild environment, and Genevieve made space inside of her human form for Jade to feel welcome and comfortable. By the end of their first week, Genevieve could change her form at will, and she and Jade remained in near-constant communication with one another, a language of scents, pictures, and impressions.
