Chapter Five

Eliana

As I returned home that day, I was overwhelmed with thoughts about my classmate Lora. I discovered that my mother had vanished along with her belongings. Where could she possibly be? I wondered if she had left without telling me.

What have I done this time? Could it be that she heard about what happened at school today and is now disappointed in me for being a hybrid? Where should I even begin to look for her?

Should I feel relieved about my newfound freedom? I was still lost in thought when I heard a knock at the door.

“Is this the home of Eliana Austin?” the strangers inquired. I answered without hesitation, my confusion and curiosity getting the better of me.

“We're from a loan shark. Your mother borrowed money from our company and used you as collateral.” What? I gasped in shock. No… this can’t be true. What on earth is my mother doing with that kind of money?

“Are you saying you weren’t aware of this?” they pressed. I felt the need to defend my mother; if this was what it took to make her proud of me, then I would do it.

“She said you were sick and in the hospital,” they continued. “Yes, I was,” I replied. “We need you to sign this document.”

After I signed, they asked when I would start repaying the loan, explaining that my mother had told them I would take over the payments if she couldn’t be found.

I didn’t want to argue. I accepted their terms, hoping it would earn me my mother’s forgiveness, even if just for a moment.

Once they left, I looked over the documents I had signed. They stated that I had two weeks to begin repaying the debt, the time my mother had given them.

My life has always been filled with pain, and now I was burdened with debt because of her. Who knows where she has gone? Maybe she’s just tired of making my life difficult.

I needed to hurry and finish the house chores; I had a lot to deal with. I wished that one day the universe would lift this suffering from me and bring my prince charming, Patrick, to me. Eliana woke from that dream, I reminded myself.

I recall how Patrick spoke to me at school after the incident that almost cost me my life. No matter what happens, I refuse to give up; not even Shantel can deter me. My feelings for Patrick run deep, and I believe he feels the same way about me as my friend. However, he’s concealing his emotions because of Shantel.

As I was getting ready to head to work for the people who are paying me, in order to earn money to help pay off my mom's debts, which are looming over us, I suddenly heard a cry in my ear. I sensed that Patrick was in danger, and I knew I had to grab my weapon and my parrot to go rescue him.

As I approached the scene, I was overwhelmed by a powerful force that made me feel stronger than ever, accompanied by the parrot's song. In an instant, I felt my hands sprouting hair, my nails elongating, and my eyebrows shifting. I could sense a fierce energy within me, one that was capable of destruction. I leaped at the guy who was holding Patrick down, part of the Crew pack that had come to attack my pack.

After the fight, I managed to save Patrick, Shantel, and others from my pack. I caught a glimpse of relief on Patrick's face before he was taken to the clinic for treatment.

Inside, I was still in shock at how I had been able to unleash such magical powers to confront the Crew pack, known for their victories, especially as someone who once felt so weak. Did the universe truly respond to my plea for strength and power?

Could it be that Patrick is my mate? How did I instinctively know he was in trouble? I trust that one day all these questions will be answered, and I couldn't help but chuckle.

Since the universe grants wishes, I thought about making more. A voice echoed in my ear, saying, "Eliana, you have been given everything; just speak your desires, and they will come true."

I was taken aback, filled with joy at the same time. I decided to test this out once more to see if the universe truly listens to me and fulfills my wishes.

I wished to become Alpha Patrick's next Luna. The voice echoed behind me, "Your wish is granted, my child; this is your destiny. Go and conquer."

I was overwhelmed with happiness. For the first time in my life, my wishes were coming true, but how would it all happen? "Eliana, don’t doubt yourself; trust in yourself and the universe," the voice reassured me.

Lost in my thoughts, I heard a knock at the door. I went to see who it was.

"Greetings, Eliana, the great warrior of our pack. Alpha Tropher invites you to his home for a gathering with his family."

This was intriguing, I thought as the messenger left. Could this mean the universe has granted my wish? Oh no… I knelt down in tears, unable to contain my emotions.

So here I am, Eliana Austin, the same person who was ridiculed just weeks ago. I can’t wait to see what the universe has in store for me.

Out of happiness my plans to help others that day with chores was cancelled, as I needed to figure out what to wear for dinner at the Alpha Tropher’s house. I needed to look stunning for my alpha Patrick. I was excited I'm going to see Patrick again and couldn't help but smile.

I think I’m truly in love with him, and honestly, I don’t mind whether he feels the same way. I’m confident I will captured his heart and that he’ll leave that girl, Shantel, behind.

He is my mate; something deep inside me tells me we are meant to be together. The cries during the attack confirmed it all.

The next morning, I put on my best outfit and went to the Alpha Tropher’s house. It would be my first time attending such a significant event and also my first opportunity to see my pack’s Alpha. How lucky I felt!
