The laughter around the oak table cut off instantly when Isaac stepped out of the shadows, his frame wedging smoothly but firmly into the gap between Marcus and Annabeth. "Hey, Marcus," Isaac said, his voice flat and dangerously quiet as he leveled a hard look at the fullback. "Coach said he wanted the starting lineup getting some rest tonight, not crowding the guests. I think you've had enough of a spotlight today." Marcus blinked, surprised by the sudden intrusion, his smile fading into a tense, defensive line. He straightened up, squaring his shoulders against Isaac. "I'm just talking, man. Didn't know you were the gatekeeper." The sudden confrontation was the exact spark Levi had been waiting for. All the built-up irritation from watching Haley's game and seeing his sister surrounded by the team finally snapped. Before Isaac or Marcus could take another step, Levi stormed across the living room floor like a freight train. He didn't yell; he just lunged forward, his massive hands locking onto the front of Marcus’s shirt and bunching the fabric into his fists, yanking the fullback forward until they were eye-to-eye. "I told you guys to keep your distance," Levi growled, his voice vibrating with pure fury as the entire room went completely dead silent. "Levi, let go!" Annabeth gasped, her newfound confidence instantly vanishing as she took a sharp step back, her hand flying to her mouth. Noah’s amused smirk dropped in a second. He dumped his cup onto the counter and moved instantly, grabbing Levi by the upper arms to pull him back before the confrontation could turn into an all-out brawl in the middle of the house. "Levi, back off! Drop him right now!" Marcus sneered, ripping himself out of Levi's grip and smoothing down his crumpled shirt. He looked between Levi and Isaac, a dark, petty smirk twisting his face. "What are you all getting so bent out of shape for? I figure it's just my turn now that Isaac is finished with her." The words hit the room like a physical blow. Annabeth flinched, the color completely draining from her face as the cruel implication of the words hung in the air. Beside her, Haley’s eyes narrowed into slits of pure fury, her fun and games instantly evaporating. Isaac didn't hesitate. A low, dangerous growl ripped from his throat as he lunged forward, his forearm slamming against Marcus's chest to pin him back against the wall before Levi could even move. "Shut your mouth, Marcus," Isaac hissed, his voice trembling with a terrifying rage, his eyes dark and fixed entirely on the fullback. "Don't you ever speak about her like that." Levi was completely feral now, trying to tear past Noah to get a clean swing at Marcus. "I'm going to kill him! Noah, let me go!" Levi roared, his face bright red as he thrashed against his twin's hold. "Levi, stop! Look at Annabeth!" Noah shouted, using every ounce of his strength to shove his brother backward, forcing Levi to see how shaken and embarrassed their sister looked in the middle of the crowded room. The party had completely stopped, dozens of eyes staring at the unfolding disaster as the tension in the room threatened to boil over into absolute chaos. Isaac didn't back down an inch, his forearm still pressed firmly against Marcus's chest, pinning him against the wall. The entire room held its breath as Isaac leaned in, his voice cutting through the sudden silence with absolute clarity. "She isn't like other girls, Marcus," Isaac said, each word laced with a cold, protective fury. "And she was always way out of anyone's league in this room—including mine. So don't you ever disrespect her name again." Marcus let out a harsh, mocking laugh, shaking his head even as he remained pinned. "Oh, is that the line you're running with now, Isaac? Please." The insult hung heavily in the air, but before the confrontation could escalate any further, Noah forcefully stepped between the two players, breaking Isaac's grip and pushing Marcus toward the back exit of the house to end the fight before it turned physical. Marcus didn’t back down, even with Noah forcing a wedge between them. He scoffed, looking over Isaac’s shoulder at where Levi was still breathing heavily, restrained by his twin. A nasty, mocking smile spread across Marcus’s face as he decided to press the exact button he knew would cause the most damage. "Come on, Levi," Marcus sneered, his voice dripping with condescension as he looked directly at the overprotective brother. "Look at him. I'm just asking Isaac how it felt. How did it feel? How did she taste? Because from where I'm standing, the jealousy is eating him alive that she’s moved on." The implication hung in the air, sharp and toxic. Marcus wasn't just talking about the football team anymore; he was mocking the silent, agonizing tension that had been building between Isaac and Annabeth for weeks. He was throwing the unspoken truth right in Levi's face, weaponizing Isaac’s obvious, fiercely guarded feelings to make a joke out of the entire situation. The comment was the absolute breaking point. Levi snapped. A deafening roar ripped from his chest as he violently wrenched his shoulder away from Noah’s grip. The sheer force of his movement caught Noah off guard, sending him stumbling back a step. Levi lunged forward, his face twisted in pure, unbridled rage as he threw his entire weight into a punch aimed straight at Marcus’s jaw. "Levi, no!" Annabeth shrieked, her voice cracking with terror as she scrambled backward, nearly colliding with Haley, who quickly grabbed her arm to pull her out of the blast radius. The punch landed with a sickening, heavy thud, sending Marcus crashing sideways into a nearby folding table. Cups scattered, spilling drinks across the floor as the entire room erupted into chaos. Teammates instantly dove into the fray, three defensive linemen throwing their arms around Levi’s torso to drag him back before he could finish what he started, while Marcus scrambled to his feet, tasting blood and looking ready to swing back. In the middle of the shouting and the shoving, Isaac stood frozen for a split second, his chest heaving as his eyes immediately flicked to Annabeth. She looked utterly horrified, the confident facade completely stripped away, leaving her pale and trembling in the corner of the room.
