Thankfully, Levi let it go after a while, when he gets up to go to the bathroom, Noah wasted no time to look between us nervously. “You both better not admit anything, my ass is on the line.”He glared mostly at me and tapping his fork of the table. “My ass is on the the line also man.”Issac pointed out, I rolled my eyes and pulled out my phone and quickly texting Haley back, then looked at the both they are thinking too much into this. They really were overthinking it. Levi was smart, but he wasn't psychic. As long as Noah kept his anxious tapping to a minimum and Issac played it cool, we were completely fine . "Relax, both of you," I muttered under my breath, slipping my phone back into my pocket after hitting send on my text to Haley. "He doesn't know anything. Just act normal when he gets back." "Easy for you to say, AB," Noah hissed, finally dropping his fork. "You don't have to share a locker room with him." Before Issac could respond, Levi slid back into the booth, completely oblivious to the silent panic attack that had just occurred in his absence. The rest of lunch passed with regular sports talk and campus gossip. I mostly tuned it out, completely relieved when Levi finally dropped us all back off at the parking lot so I could catch my last class at Pomona. I thought that diner scare would be our ultimate wake-up call. The sheer terror of almost getting caught should have been enough to keep me far away from Issac Callahan and any future Claremont McKenna athletic drama. ———— But apparently, the universe had other plans. I pulled my notebook a little closer, trying to focus on the text, but Issac wasn’t making it easy. This was supposed to be a one-off deal. Noah had set up the original exchange two weeks ago—the master keycard in exchange for keeping Issac eligible—and that was supposed to be the end of it. I had the card until the end of the semester, and Issac had his passing grades. But now, he was sneaking around behind the twins' backs, showing up at my table when he was supposed to be anywhere else. If Levi found out, he would absolutely lose his mind. My brother was fiercely protective of me on a normal day, but if he knew the football captain was cornering me in the deep stacks for "extra help," he’d be down here in a second. "So," Issac said, leaning his chin on his hand, completely ignoring the open textbook between us. He flashed the charming smile he usually reserved for campus donors and sports reporters. "Do you always study this hard, or am I just that distracting?" I didn't blink. I just tapped the tip of my pen against his rough draft. "I'm looking at your thesis statement, Issac. It still doesn't have an argument." "Come on, Anna Beth," he chuckled, leaning in a little closer, his tone dropping to a smooth, confident murmur. "You can't tell me you're only thinking about the 19th-century folios right now. We're alone in the quietest part of the library. Surely you can find something more interesting to look at than a history prompt." He was doing it again. It was like his brain physically couldn't process the fact that I just wasn't interested. Every time I shut him down, he took it as a challenge, ramping up the charm because he couldn't accept that a girl might actually just want to talk about the coursework. "I find getting my research done incredibly interesting," I said, my voice flat as I met his gaze. "And if you want to keep your eligibility so you can actually play in the final games, you should too. Now, are we going to fix this introduction, or are you wasting my time?" Issac blinked, his grin faltering for a fraction of a second before he masked it with a confident smirk. He adjusted his posture, finally looking down at the paper, though he still kept his shoulder brushed close to mine. "Alright, teacher," he murmured, his voice low. "Let's fix it." “Now..” an hour had passed already at this point. “Tomorrow is our last session remember no more favours after this Issac.” “Yeah, Yeah I remember.”he rolls his eyes packing up his stuff.
