I stepped out of my quarters with a hard exhale, letting the cold air cut across my face as I headed toward the gathering ground. My people were already assembled, just as I had ordered. The guard I sent had done exactly what he was told, call everyone out, no excuses.
I stood before them, spine straight, shoulders squared. The chatter died the moment they saw me. One by one, heads lowered in respect. A familiar silence settled over the pack.
My voice came out deep, sharp, and steady.
“I’ve called you all to gather because I have a very important announcement,” I said, letting the words echo.
The crowd went still. Even the wind seemed to pause.
I took in a slow breath and continued. “There’s a female in my room.”
