I stood at the field with Jake and the doctor, waiting as the jet approached in the distance above. A nurse waited with a stretcher too. Our eyes fixed on the sky.

After the brief call, he started speaking through the mindlink.
‘That was Rich. He said not to worry. It’s not that kind of poison.’
When I looked at him, his face had softened.
‘She’s going to be okay, Nick. Although, he wanted to me leave before they land. I'm not sure why.’
The rising sound of the jet pulled my focus from him. I moved closer as the doctor and the others followed me.
