Emma I honestly didn’t expect the party to turn out this lively. I thought it would just be Alex, a few kids from school, and maybe some snacks. But Ovie and Eddy had other plans. “Emma, bring more cups,” Ovie called from the kitchen, her hands full of juice packs. “These children drink like they’ve never seen soda before.” I laughed and hurried over. “I only planned for twenty people.” “Well,” Eddy said, balancing two trays of hamburgers he bought himself, “next time, plan for fifty. Kids don’t come alone, they come with appetites.” The living room was packed. Ten-year-olds everywhere, playing musical chairs, kicking balloons and shouting over the music.
