The meeting had run late.
Inaya was the last one in the office. Rayan was stuck in Dubai on a video call, so she told him "You go ahead, I’ll take the car."
Her heels echoed in the empty parking basement of Kamalaya Tower.
She was looking for her keys when a voice came from behind.
"Mrs. Khan."
Inaya froze.
Adil Rehman.
Leaning against her car. Arms crossed. That same smile from the boardroom.
"Mr. Rehman," Inaya said, keeping her voice steady. "What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you," Adil said. He pushed off the car and took a step closer. "We need to talk."
Inaya clutched her bag tighter. "If it’s about AURA, talk to my husband. In office hours."
Adil laughed. "Husband. Right." He said the word like it tasted bad. "Inaya, can I be honest?"
"Don’t," Inaya warned.
"Rayan Khan is not good for you," Adil said. His voice dropped. "He’s cold. Possessive. He’ll trap you in that tower and call it love. I can give you freedom. I can give you the world."
Inaya’s blood went cold. "You don’t know anything about us."
"I know he married his PA," Adil scoffed. "I know he—"
He reached out to touch her arm.
"Don’t. Touch. Her."
The voice was low. Furious.
Rayan.
He was standing by the elevator. Suit jacket in hand. Eyes like a storm.
Adil turned, pale. "Rayan, I was just—"
"You were just what?" Rayan walked forward slowly. Each step echoed. "Harassing my wife? In my building? In my parking?"
Rayan stopped in front of Inaya. He didn’t look at her. His eyes were locked on Adil.
But his hand came back and found Inaya’s. He squeezed it once. _I’m here._
"Adil," Rayan said softly. Too softly. "Let me make this very clear for you. And for everyone watching the CCTV."
He pulled Inaya in front of him. Put a hand on her waist.
"This woman is my wife. My partner. My entire world. If you speak to her again, if you look at her again, if you even think her name again..."
Rayan leaned in.
"I will bury Vertex Holdings so deep, your grandchildren will be paying for it."
The basement was silent except for the hum of the lights.
Adil swallowed. "This is a threat?"
"This is a promise," Rayan said. Then he looked down at Inaya. His expression changed instantly. Soft. Worried.
"You okay?" he whispered.
Inaya nodded, tears in her eyes. Not from fear. From relief.
Rayan wrapped an arm around her shoulders and led her to the car.
Before he got in, he looked back at Adil one last time.
"Mine. Only mine. Remember that."
The car doors closed.

The Gala Night - One Week Later*
Kamalaya’s Grand Gala.
The biggest event of the year. Politicians. Celebrities. Investors.
Theme: "Golden Empire"
Inaya stood in front of the mirror and held her breath.
Golden silk gown. Floor length. Backless. Thin straps. Her hair was in a low bun, diamond earrings catching the light.
She looked like a queen.
The door opened.
Rayan walked in.
Black tux. No tie. Top two buttons open. And he stopped dead when he saw her.
"Ya Allah," he breathed.
Inaya blushed. "Too much?"
"Too perfect," Rayan said. He walked to her and turned her around. His hand came to her bare back.
His fingers traced the strap once. "You’re going to kill me tonight."
"Then let’s go kill them together," Inaya smiled.
---
The ballroom was insane. Chandeliers. String quartet. Gold everywhere.
The second they walked in, people turned.
"Mr. and Mrs. Khan," everyone said.
Rayan didn’t let go of Inaya’s hand for even a second.
And then he saw him.
Adil.
In a navy suit. Holding a champagne glass. Smiling.
Rayan’s jaw ticked.
"Inaya, stay with me tonight," he murmured in her ear. "Please."
"I’m not leaving you," she promised.
For an hour it was fine. Speeches. Photos. Toasts.
Then the music changed. A waltz.
Adil walked straight to them.
"May I have this dance, Mrs. Khan?" he asked, extending his hand to Inaya. Ignoring Rayan completely.
Rayan didn’t move.
The music kept playing. People were watching.
Inaya looked at Rayan. "No, thank you—"
"I insist," Adil cut her off. "Just one dance. For old times’ sake? We worked together before you married him."
Rayan set his glass down on a waiter’s tray. Slowly.
He stepped in front of Inaya. Blocking Adil completely.
"She said no," Rayan said. His voice was calm. But the whole room could hear it.
Adil smiled. "Come on, Rayan. Don’t be like that. It’s just a dance."
Rayan looked at him. Then he looked at the room. At the cameras. At the board members.
Then he did something nobody expected.
He took Inaya’s hand and pulled her to the center of the dance floor.
The music was still playing.
Rayan put one hand on her waist. The other in her hand. And he started to dance.
Slow. Perfect.
And as he spun her, he spoke. Loud enough for everyone to hear.
"My wife," Rayan said, looking straight at Adil over Inaya’s shoulder, "does not dance with other men. She does not have coffee with other men. She does not talk to other men alone."
He spun Inaya again. Her golden dress flared.
"Because she is taken," Rayan said. Then he looked down at Inaya. His eyes were soft, but his words were steel.
"She’s taken. By me."
The room erupted. Some clapped. Some gasped. Cameras flashed.
Adil’s face went red. He turned and walked out.
Rayan didn’t care.
He pulled Inaya closer. His forehead to hers.
"I’m sorry," he whispered. "For making a scene."
Inaya smiled, tears in her eyes. "Don’t be sorry. Be mine."
"I am," Rayan whispered back. "I’ve always been yours."
He dipped her. Kissed her hand.
And for the rest of the night, nobody approached them.
Because the message was clear.

After The Gala - Car Ride Home*
Inaya was asleep on Rayan’s shoulder before they even left the hotel driveway.
Rayan didn’t wake her. He just pulled her closer and pressed a kiss to her hair.
His phone buzzed. Email from Legal: "Vertex Holdings stock dropped 8% today."
Rayan deleted it.
He didn’t care about Vertex. He cared about the woman in his arms.
At home, he carried her to bed. Took off her heels. Covered her with a blanket.
Inaya stirred. "Rayan?"
"I’m here," he said, lying down beside her and pulling her into his arms. "Sleep."
"Thank you," she whispered. "For today. In the parking. On the dance floor."
Rayan kissed her temple. "Nobody gets to threaten you. Nobody gets to touch you. Nobody gets to have you."
"Good," Inaya murmured, already falling asleep again. "Because I don’t want anyone else either."
Rayan smiled in the dark.
"Mine," he whispered.
"Only mine."
Outside, the city was quiet.
Inside, Rayan Khan finally felt at peace.
Because the whole world knew now.
Inaya was his.
