Chapter 9

Alden ignored Tyon completely. He didn't really talk to him before but he never acted so cold towards him either. His eyes didn't even go to him when he entered and Tyon felt like a ghost. Alden and Amauri didn't even wait for him to start eating or to get up from the table after they finished. Alden didn't make conversation wanting to finish eating as soon as possible. Amauri wasn't talking a lot either, both of their faces were very pale which had Tyon worried. He couldn't have time to think and asked: "Are you okay?" Tyon got more surprised than anyone by his question but Alden didn't even respond. He didn't have time for Tyon at the moment. He promised he would never talk to him ever again if he did it and for now he had to make sure Amauri was okay. He needed time to cheer the child up and then he would go and scream at Tyon. Moreover, he did feel a bit better after screaming at Gaillard and the other knights for long minutes. He did apologize for it and he had to admit that he didn't hate them. Tyon felt pitiful. If he knew he would be feeling like this, he wouldn't have done anything to stop Alden. He was ashamed of himself but he couldn't take his silence. He didn't care where he took Amauri and only wanted him to look at him. He wanted to see his eyes. He wanted to see his superior smile. He wanted to see his determination. He needed it. But Alden never looked up at him, busy with Amauri. Tyon heard how much the child had cried and knew he had been in the wrong but he had no idea what to do to make things better. He never apologized before. During the day Alden and the same seven people of last time went to the garden again and played with Amauri the whole day. The child was really happy and had the time of his life completely over the Zoo story by that time. Alden didn't realize how anxious he had been and he needed a break. He fell asleep against a tree and the others didn't break him playing with Amauri to give him some time to relax. When he woke up Alden felt a bit better. He turned to Gaillard and the others with a sy smile: "Thank you, guys. And I am so sorry if I was emotional. I just really want Amauri to be happy. -You don't have to apologize. He is an adorable child. We want the best for him too." They looked at Amauri running around in the grass with a peaceful smile. Janyn chose this moment to try and place in a few words for his master: "I am sure the commander regrets his actions as well." Alden scoffed. "I don't think so. -He is not a bad person. -I beg to differ." Willie looked at his shoes while James straightened up: "I heard the commander had a very tough childhood. That could explain why he doesn't know how to behave around the young master. -Poor commander had a tough life. That is no excuse at all. I would have loved to help him if he had been a decent human being. Not even a nice person but a decent one at last." The others didn't know what to say anymore and the attempt to reconcile Alden and Tyon was given up. Dinner soon came and Alden had a huge appetite therefore busy eating and talking with Amauri. Tyon was right on time which was surprising but seeing that he was still ignored, he was at a loss and even tried making small talk during dinner. He asked about the weather and what Amauri would do the next day. No one ever heard Tyon talk that much in his whole life but despite everything, Alden didn't respond once. Even when Tyon couldn't take it anymore and called his name, Alden didn't even flinch as if he didn't hear anything. Amauri looked at his mommy and dada one after the other. Something was wrong. His dada seemed sad and that made him sad too. No matter the type of person that man was, Amauri still loved him. Seeing Amauri all teary, Alden panicked: "Amauri? Are you okay? What's wrong? You know you can tell me anything. -Dada is sad..." Tyon flinched but Alden didn't turn to him. "What do you mean? He is fine. -No... His mouth is all around." Alden signed but didn't say anything. If Amauri was sad that was something but healing Tyon was not one of his concerns. "You know, darling, people are sad sometimes. It's okay." He really wanted to leave it at that and Tyon felt his heart shrink knowing that Alden didn't care at all about his feelings. But once again, Amauri came to the rescue: "Last time everything was fine after you made up." Alden frowned knowing exactly where Amauri was going. "Darling... Unfortunately you can't solve all your problems with a kiss. -But you kiss me better all the time when I am scared and I feel better right away." Alden felt once again that he couldn't outsmart that kid and he knew he had to kiss that man again. He got up and walked to Tyon without even looking at his eyes. He just stared at his feet and stopped in front of his chair. Tyon couldn't calm his heart at the idea of what was going to happen but really wanted Alden to look at him while they were kissing. He didn't care if it wasn't a real kiss, he wanted to make the most of it. He grabbed Alden and pulled him on his knees. Alden lifted his eyes in surprise and that was when Tyon knew for sure. He was deeply in love with that man. He wanted to eat him up whole and never let him go again. He didn't care if he was right all the time and was ready to kneel in front of him without any shame. Taking advantage of the fact that Alden's mouth opened too in his surprise, Tyon grabbed the back of his head and his tongue immediately found its place in Alden's mouth. Alden froze not expecting this outcome and completely lost. He did not once think Tyon was doing any of this with pleasure. He thought they both hated each other the same amount and he never would have grabbed someone and stuffed his tongue into their mouth. He soon came to the conclusion that Tyon was punishing him knowing that Alden didn't want to kiss him. Alden never would have thought that Tyon could love him. Once he concluded this he pushed Tyon away with all his force. Being on his knees, Alden fell backwards and Tyon grabbed his waist to stabilize him. But Alden by far preferred to fall than to be in Tyon's arms. Therefore he pushed him again and both of them fell to the ground. Alden fell first and Tyon fell on top of him. Alden didn't get hurt at all, his head and waist being surrounded by Tyon's hand. He on the other hand got hurt which worried the workers. They called for a doctor but Alden didn't care if Tyon got hurt and slapped him in front of everyone. How did he dare shove his tongue inside his mouth without asking? Alden didn't have to speak and Tyon perfectly understood him. It was written all over his cold eyes that he despised the man in front of him and didn't want to have anything to do with him. Tyon felt uneasy and got up before extending Alden his hand to help him up. Alden didn't accept it and didn't look at Tyon anymore. The latter didn't know what was better anymore. Amauri on the other hand hurried to his parents and panicked at the idea of them getting hurt. He started crying and Alden had to calm him down saying that everything was fine. Tyon hid his bruised hand from Amauri and signed to the doctor that he didn't need treatment not wanting to scare the kid. Amauri and Alden left and only came back the next morning. The workers didn't dare make too much noise or even breathe. They had been betting about the person who would win the next argument but didn't think things would get so messed up. Tyon had never arbored such an expression in his life. Even on the battlefield he never seemed so disheartened than in front of Alden. He always came back from war, his face painted in dried blood but he never seemed more desperate than at that moment. Knowing that he did something bad, Tyon went directly to Alden's room after eating. The latter opened with a huge smile but when he saw who it was, his face grew cold again. With everything going on he didn't even have the strength to yell at Tyon. He didn't forget what he did and was ready to murder him any time but it took a lot of energy to talk with him and that was discouraging sometimes. Seeing Alden's disappointment, Tyon had never felt so hurt before and thought he would faint. Alden always had a smile on his face when he looked at Amauri. Tyon had seen his eyes full of passion when he was creating his precious dresses but when he looked at him there was nothing. His eyes were devoid of any emotion and Tyon felt cold all over his body. Alden turned around and asked Earl, who was present too, to talk to Tyon instead of him. Seeing him leave, Tyon froze. He wanted to grab him and never let him leave but wouldn't that make things worse? He had no idea what to do or how to act anymore. This was again something that never happened to Tyon before he met Alden but he wasn't counting anymore. Usually it was the others adjusting to his mood but never had he tried to match someone else. He sent gifts to Alden's chamber every night, not having a better idea to ease his anger. Alden didn't open any of them as if they never existed and seeing it wasn't working, Tyon came again and again. Alden never looked at him and Tyon watched him leave feeling powerless. Alden was in a way better mood than before. He knew he had to talk to Tyon but he enjoyed seeing him hurt every time. He got used to ignoring Tyon and outside of meals had a great time with Amauri as before. Moreover, they started playing with their new friends and Amauri got really interested in knights who showed him their training everytime he wanted. Seeing Alden all friendly with others was even worse for Tyon. The latter knew it was his fault but couldn't help feeling it was unfair. Despite being all cold to Tyon, Alden made some friends. At least that was how it seemed to Tyon.
