Her cover

"You have an appointment with redster by five. They want to go over the contract with you, an.." Brew stopped halfway staring at Anna, who was clearly at the minute not hearing a thing she was saying. "What are you thinking about?" She asked, dropping the file on the table, her eyes firmly on Anna. "we have to do something about Damien. He's becoming desperate," Anna said, her hand resting on the table "you don't have to worry about him, he can chase after Anna while you stay here and be Joan" brey said, Anna sighed, her eyes dropped to the black skirt that matched the blouse she wore, long dark hair with its fringe framed her face stopping right above her eyes. she hated this, she hated being like the people she hated the most, lawyers, business men, who to the rest of the world were heroes, but Anna knew otherwise, she knew what went underground. she knew the secret to their wealth and succes wasn't their hard work as they said it was. She's seen it first hand after all. she's seen the empire they've built on selling children, forcing girls into s*x trade. but here she was. Was she a hypocrite? She only came back to get those who wronged her, but that resulted in her posing as one of them. she could remember the first time the hunger grew. it was six months ago. she hadn't expected to see the man that shot her father, his face was stored in her memory, how could it not be?, she saw him in her nightmares every night, his hands pulling the trigger on replay dropping her father dead. but she hadn't expected to see him that night, drinking, laughing, like he hadn't destroyed people's lives. it angered her, it brought back the memories she thought she had gotten rid of, she was being controlled by it, and she hadn't even realised until she was standing over his dead body. his face bashed in, his blooding dripping down the restroom sink. she remembered washing her bloody hands and fixing her hair before walking out of the club. she knew that if he could be here, then so could the man on the high table. the man that controlled everything. the man that gave the order, he was her main goal. "and Jon?" Anna asked, turning to brey, who posed as her assistant to Anna and Jon she was brey, but to everyone else, she was Sandra. that was the price they had to pay, picking up new identities. she remembered the first time she met them, they were taken just like her, thier mother taken as a maid there as well, jon, breys brother was to be sold just like the rest, it was only a matter of time, he was just twelve at that time but he took care of his older sister with ease. they escaped four years later, before he was sold, keeping the three of them inseparable ever since. and here they were six years after with one aim in mind. "he's finding information about Ramsey, although it's proved to be difficult, that cunt was right, she could be a hard person to track" Anna sighed "plus, the stunt he pulled with your records had to be undone, but as long as no-one goes swooping around, your identity should be safe" brey said and Anna nodded. Anna first found the entire idea absurd, and jon insisted on deleting her identity temporarily. He needed to make the officers believe she didn't exist. that was the only way they could protect her cover as a lawyer. none of them were sure it would work, but that was a risk they were willing to take. when Damien said she didn't have any record on her, she could imagine jon screaming 'he's a genius' while brey rolls her eyes. "and Damien?" She asked "Measures are being taken to make sure he doesn't bug around," brey said, a small smile curled up on her lips "What?" Anna asked. She watched as brey slid into the seat opposite hers "Ahh, nothing, just.." brey shrugged."Damien is a fine man, don't you think...?" Anna rolled her eyes tuning brey out, she scanned the file that held damiens information infront of her. so far, he had a perfect life. from what she was seeing, he was practically born with a golden spoon in his mouth. graduated as the best student in harvard. went to police academy and passed again, the best student. been in the field for quite a while now. it saddened Anna, she didn't get the chance to be a best student, she didn't get the chance to be the best at anything. ".....he just has that little tinge of bad boy, doesn't he?" "That's enough. All our attention should be on finding out who Ramsey is and where she is. She may be our only chance at finding him, " Anna stated and brey scrowled "Fine, but answer me first," Anna sighed. "Or, I'm just gonna keep talking about his dreamy eyes and how those strong hands can.." "Okay, what?" She asked, cutting her off "How's the nightmares?" brey asked, her face rid of the playfulness that once was. Anna bit her lips, turning her eyes away "brey.." She stood up from her seat "No, don't shut me out," brey said watching as she walked closer to the large window, Anna stared at her reflection. the skin pads on her face made her unrecognizable. her fringe and glasses gave her a different look "we've been friends for 10 years Anna, when are you gonna let me in?" anna sighed. memories of the past flashed back. Anna looked at her reflection, she didn't know who she was again, all she saw was the broken child from 10 years ago, the angry broken child. it broke her heart. the things they did to her, it traumatised her, and left a scar she knew could never fade . She knew she had to live with it.
