Episode 31: The Betrayal

266 Words
The thread glowed brighter, pulling Aria and Kieran further into the tapestry of their past. When the scene settled, they found themselves in a grand hall filled with flickering torches. The air was thick with tension, and the walls bore the banners of an ancient clan. The warrior—Kieran’s past self—stood before a group of elders. His expression was stoic, but his clenched fists betrayed his inner turmoil. “You are to marry the clan leader’s daughter,” one of the elders declared. “It is the only way to secure the alliance.” Kieran’s past self shook his head. “But I am already bound to another. My heart belongs to her.” “Your personal feelings are irrelevant,” the elder snapped. “The clan’s survival depends on your loyalty.” The scene shifted abruptly, showing the young weaver—Aria’s past self—waiting anxiously by the loom. Her fingers fumbled with the threads, her heart heavy with unease. A messenger entered, his expression grim. “He’s betrayed you,” the messenger said bluntly. “He’s marrying another.” “No,” she whispered, her hands trembling. “He wouldn’t.” But the truth was undeniable. The weaver’s tears fell onto the threads, imbuing them with her anguish. The threads began to glow faintly, their power awakening for the first time. The scene faded, leaving Aria and Kieran shaken. “I didn’t betray you,” Kieran said desperately, his voice cracking. “I had no choice.” Aria turned away, her heart heavy. “But it still broke me.”
